Good question - I know Crush had better record for the year and higher seeding.....might also have to do with how the Crush and Royals did head to head?iceage wrote:There is one thing that has been bothering me with the Crush and the Royals in the 2NFHL tournament. The Crush won their first game against the MN All Stars (4-1) and lost their second game against the Northern Starrz (4-0). The Royals won their first game against the Ica Cats-R (3-2) and lost their second gameagainst the Lightening (2-1). The third game that the Crush played was in the Championship round (against RP) but the third game that the Royals played was in the Consolation round (against the Ice Cats-R again). Can anyone explain this or direct me to someone connected with the tournament that can explain it?Valley Eggroll wrote:That's easy. How about a 4th place finish. JCP done pimpin your 94's?
V.E. - Sorry you think giving kudos to a team who outworked the number one ranked team in the league is "pimping" anybody. The game I was there to watch was one sided, so I decided to check out the other games that were going on. I was very impressed with this hard working team. I would have listed all their names if I knew them, whether they were 94s, 93s, 92s, or 91s. Too often players, especially young players, are not given the chance to play in so-called important games, and I saw girls many times in other games spending most of the time sitting on the bench watching their teammates play the game. This team proved age doesn't matter, and I just wanted to recognize that. For those who know more about this team than I learned watching them one period, feel free to "pimp" your team. Maybe they ended up in fourth place, but from reading other posts on this thread, that's higher than anyone expected them to finish. Again, congratulations on a very impressive win.

Here are the skaters who played with the Crush at some point during Championship weekend. As noted, they weren't expected to finish higher than 7th or 8th...so 4th was a plus! Just shows that any team can beat any team on any given night!
This isn't pimping...just filling in the blanks as requested by jcp-18. The Crush, like many teams, are a "United Nations" mix of metro skaters.
Hopefully I didn't miss anyone...accept my apologies and please correct...
Ali Austin - Defense - Blake - Class of 2012
Kersten Calder - Forward - Armstrong - Class of 2010
Maddie Dahl - Goalie - Edina - Class of 2012
Michelle Jamar - Foward & Defense (played both during weekend) - Eden Prairie - Class of 2012
Carly Kuhbander - Forward - St Louis Park - Class of 2009
Courtney Kukowski - Foward - Eastview - Class of 2012
Allie LaCombe - Forward - Eden Prairie - Class of 2011
Christina LaCombe - Defense - Eden Prairie - Class of 2010
Kelly McGarvey - Forward - Edina - Class of 2012
Lauren McMahon - Forward - Eden Prairie - Class of 2011
Rachel Olsen - Forward - Armstrong - Class of 2012
Alison Peluso - Defense - Edina - Class of 2012
Meghan Riggs - Forward - Eden Prairie - Class of 2010
Francie Varner - Forward - Buffalo - Class of 2010
Kira vonSteinbergs - Defense - Holy Angels - Class of 2012
Alex Willi - Foward & Defense (played both) - Hudson (WI) - Class of 2012
Due to illness/injury, the number of skaters for each game varied, hence the movement between defense and forward for a couple of the girls.
The Crush - Reece's game was just flatout fun the watch...regardless of the outcome!

I saw them 2 or 3 times. Very good team. They walked away with the U14 Division of 2NFHL. At the U19 level they did not win a game during their weekend as a guest team but they beat the Blues in overtime in the U19 playoffs (4-3). That game was probably as big a game for them as the Crush win over RP.leftysniper24 wrote:Did anyone see Icecats-E play?... the team that came from he U14 division
I was just in Canada and met with a couple of the leaders from the CDN side of the TNFHL. For 2010 they have 4-5 teams at each level. HS Platnium, HS Titanium and Gold (U14). The US founders of this leauge have kind of aged out but the CDN are interested in keeping this at cost league going if you have a team or want to participate e-mail info@2nationsfemalehockeyleague.com
Two Nations Female Hockey League is an "at cost" spring hockey league formed in 2006. 2010 League games will be played over 3 weekends (MSP, Winnipeg, Fargo) with the Championship weekend to be held at the Super Rink (Blaine) in early June.

There's very good information throughout this topic. The answer to your question is she likely needs to be on a team. The women that play in this League, that I'm familiar with, are on existing AAA teams.
As for the Web site, just like your association is only as good as the volunteers, the TNFHL is volunteer driven and so they do what they can. I'll guess that when they get this years volunteer leaders in place they'll do some updating. I'd get on the phone with the administrator.
Anyone know who is in at 19U? 14U?
