Can we assume that's Duluth Marshall?
Those of us in southern Mn can get a bit confused between Duluth Marshall and Marshall, MN. (Not to mention John Marshall)

Actually, it's Hopkins HS vs. Marshall Everson. I think I have to go Everson 3-2 in a shootout... he is going to Harvard afterall.

Are they playing a game of Jeopardy? If so, I agree with the call regarding Everson winning.

FOX SPORTS NORTH AND THE MINNESOTA WILD ANNOUNCE
FOURTH ANNUAL “HOCKEY DAY MINNESOTA”

City of Hermantown to Host Outdoor Games
“State of Hockey” Rivals Featured in College Match Up

Fox Sports North, in conjunction with the National Hockey League’s Minnesota Wild, announced today a cooperative effort to celebrate the Fourth Annual Hockey Day Minnesota with a full day of hockey programming, including five telecasts of games taking place at three separate locations on Saturday, January 23, 2010. The announcement was made this morning at Hermantown High School.

Hockey Day Minnesota 2010 on Fox Sports North will include over 16 hours of local hockey-related programming designed as a celebration of the game from peewees to pros. The city of Hermantown will serve as the background for the three high school games featured in the Hockey Day Minnesota 2010 line up.

Hockey Day Minnesota coverage will also include a Minnesota Wild game from Xcel Energy Center, as well as the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers against the St. Cloud State Huskies. A complete list of games and programming schedule will be released at a later date.

Outdoor Games at Hermantown High School
10:00 a.m.Eden Prairie/Hermantown (boys)
1:30 p.m.Hopkins/Duluth-Marshall (boys)
4:30 p.m.Duluth/Hermantown (girls)

According to Nielsen Media Research, FOX Sports North received top ratings for their coverage of Hockey Day Minnesota 2009, including record-breaking ratings during the first hour of Hockey Day programming and their highest-rated high school hockey and Gopher game of the season. The day-long event included over 20 hours of hockey-related programming, seven games from five locations and required over 100 FOX Sports North employees. The regional network balanced three production trucks stationed at Phalen Park, Xcel Energy Center and the National Hockey Center in St. Cloud, a total of 20 cameras, seven on-air reporters and ten play-by-play/game analyst duos throughout the day.

FOX Sports North reaches more than 2 million homes throughout Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and North and South Dakota and telecasts nearly 2,600 hours of locally produced programming per year. The Emmy Award-winning regional sports network provides comprehensive coverage of the NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves, MLB’s Minnesota Twins, the NHL’s Minnesota Wild, the NFL’s Minnesota Vikings, the WNBA’s Minnesota Lynx as well as the University of Minnesota athletic events.

The Minnesota Wild is in its ninth NHL season after bringing hockey at its highest-level back to Minnesota for the 2000-01 campaign. The Wild claimed its first-ever Northwest Division title in 2007-08 and has sold out all 365 games played at Xcel Energy Center in franchise history.

Times on the official release have Marshall playing first and Hermantown second. Lapanta had them backwards when he announced them at the school today. Also, the football field is not a option for the site anymore. There will be a site picked soon and they are choosing from 2-3 sites that would be suitable for a great day of hockey.

Anyone else see the Hermantown/EP match up as odd?

I agree. I also thought St. Paul Johnson vs. Rochester John Marshall was kind of strange.

Hockey Day in MN

Both match-ups look intriguing as they obviously matched big Metro vs little North. Hermantown will be outstanding next year with one of the premier fowards in the state in Krause. Eden will have their hands full.

Calibur of both games will far exceed those of the past in Baudette and Johnson.

HShockeyupnorth, I tend to agree with you as it is expected that Hermantown will field quite a quality club next season so one could expect a great game. Both games to be exact should be enjoyable to watch.

I thought it was more representative of Minnesota hockey, two evenly matched average teams.

May be odd to some but I think FSN wants the TV ratings and bringing in a big school power to the outdoors in the small school area will be more interesting than odd.

OK lets be civil here....EP will not have their hands full. They are returning possibly the best sophomore class in history and have the premier forward in the state with Rau. Not to mention a state championship under their belt. It's not gonna be close, but I do agree that the calibur of the games will far exceed last year.
EP two out of three.

They missed a grand opportunity they could of had. Why not play it on Lake Superior in one of those empty ship lanes (like what the Irvin is docked in, Duluthians on here know what i'm talking about)....they are right down the road from the DECC as well.

At the very least put this into consideration for Hockey Day 2011. The new arena is scheduled to be completed on the last day in 2010....A Gopher/Bulldog matchup there for hockey day would be a great way to open up the new arena to go along with playing HS hockey on Superior
