Duluth East 2009-10 Schedule

(Source: http://as.rschooltoday.com/g5-bin/clien ... 5genie=121 --use the drop-down menu on the right)

12/1 @Cambridge-Isanti
12/3 @Maple Grove
12/5 vs. Wayzata
12/8 @Anoka
12/11 vs. White Bear Lake (SAHA)
12/12 vs. Princeton (SAHA)
12/15 vs. Centennial
12/17 vs. Cloquet
12/22 vs. Moorhead
12/28 Schwan Cup Silver
12/29 "
12/30 "
1/5 @Blaine
1/9 @Minnetonka
1/12 "@" Denfeld
1/14 @ Grand Rapids
1/19 @ Elk River
1/26 @ Forest Lake
1/29 vs. Andover
2/2 @Superior
2/4 vs. Apple Valley
2/6 @Eden Prairie
2/9 @Cloquet
2/16 @Hastings
2/20 vs. Tartan
----
2/23 7AA Quarterfinals (high seed)
2/27 7AA Semifinals (DECC)
3/4 7AA Finals (DECC)
3/11-13 State Tournament

All other home games are at the Heritage Center. Though I would note that the locations of East home games often undergo a few changes between the first release of the schedule and the actual games. For example, I'd be surprised if the Cloquet game stays at the Heritage Center, based on how it usually draws.

The big thing I noticed: no Central. This will, of course, cause some moaning and complaints of further east-side elitism. To those who whine about this, I'll pre-emptively say that beating a team 9-0 is no fun for either team and a waste of most everyone's time. It's better for each team that they play someone more on their talent level, or at least someone that they might run into come sections. It's the sad reality of the state of Central hockey. Last year was probably the last East-Central hockey game ever.

Otherwise, the schedule is reasonably similar to last year.
Additions: Cambridge, Maple Grove, Princeton, Eden Prairie, Tartan
Subtractions: Duluth Central, Rochester Century, Rochester Mayo, Stillwater, Brainerd

All in all, a bit stronger than last year, and also a bit less frontloaded. A lot of road games. There are also 9 games within the section, as they play everyone but St. Francis in 7AA. It should provide us with some great hockey, and I love EP getting thrown in there as a late-season challenge.

What happened to East being forced to play games against teams in the same school district?

My guess is that it has something to do with the plans to close Central in the next few years.
