Caribou Cup This Weekend

Post by manchild »

I Just figure it out, this a recycled tournament. What a great idea! They have 58 teams on the boys side and only 4 out of town teams. 3 from Wisconsin and 1 from Omaha.

These guys are going green. Outstanding! They can even use the same program because it is all the same teams from the Warrior Cup and the St. Croix Tournament.

Minnesota Lake of 10,000 AAA teams. Come on in the water is warm.

Sounds like a shot at the tourny. Too bad for you as I guarantee ALL the kids are pumped and most parents are looking forward to a nice in town late summer tourny. Not sure the point of your post but.......should be another good read to all responses.

Right on manchild! I totaly agree. Who do these people think they are? The nerve of these people to have a summer hockey tournament for bunch of third class teams. What a waste of time and money!
Why don't you take some of that money you give Bernie for that orange kool aid and take a grammar lesson.
Nice topic :!:

I figured it out where your moniker comes from. Your age is makes you a man but your maturity level makes you the child = manchild.

Sounds like a decent tournament and If people don't think so then it wont last ... not because of your judgement. Its called free market/capitalism/free choice and works pretty well.

Manchild, please tell us what the best tournaments are and who the only "true" AAA teams are -- now before the tryouts for next season. Start with the team you kid is on and why it is the best. We dont want to waste another summer on these two bit outfits that play in recycled tournaments. :P

Doesn't everyone know - manchild is a Bernie McMoney Disciple. He bleeds orange and anyone who bleeds orange knows if you don't play for Bernie you are a second class hockey player with no future.

Great points CHILDMAN!!!

I agree- if your kid is not going D1 he should not be able to play in any tournaments at all. Parents should not have the right to let their kids play in a good competitive tournament for the sake of having fun.

And how about the guy that organizes this and puts together all the workers and ice and schedules and etc..... - He may make a littlle money for his efforts..... That is so bad- makes me sick---- just think they make money of of all these kids and parents having fun and being entertained for the weekend??? What a crazy scenario!

What country do we live in?

Manchild, take a step back, it is like your trying to justify what we are doing spending so much time, money, etc.. with MM. This maybe a good trny, like Stars and Stripes it is in its learning years. Both beat any showcase trny hands down.

Good catch. Manchild is his moniker because that's what he call's his son who is on the 99 Machine team. Anyone who knows the 99 team knows exactly who this person is. This from a person who has no idea what YOUTH hockey is all about. Imagine a grown man standing at the glass wishing he was his child playing the game and needing to win at all costs so that it is "fun" for HIM. That is Manchild.

"iwearmysunglassesatnight" - It's so touching to see one McMoney Disciple guiding another McMoney Disciple on being more compassionate to us the less fortunate hockey community. Please excuse me while I wipe an Orange tear from my eye.

You may have found your calling, you should really think of heading up a self help group for the rest of your Arrogant, Self Absorbed, Overbearing Orange Kool-Aid Drinking Disciples, you could hold the meetings in the basement of the Somerset Ice Arena!!

Great responses...classic. Keep it up guys. I'm a fairly newbie to this board and generally love it. Esp the guys/gals who are so over the top serious (this manchild dude). Give me a break, is he seriously this into it and serious or is he egging you/us on with posts like this current one? Anyone remember Robo QB? (Marinovich) Guarantee his dad was a "manchild".

Wow, Manchild! If this is your life philosophy, I hope the following describes your life history: You graduated summa cum laude from an ivy league college and earned a PhD from MIT. Then, after completing your formal education, you immediately were welcomed into the senior executive ranks of a Fortune 10 company. By age 30, you were elevated to CEO of a Fortune 5 company.

Wait, you say, I'm not describing your life. Instead, you graduated from a state college or a local private college that no one outside the area has heard of and spend your days sitting in a cube hoping that someone will recognize that you are a late bloomer and should be given a shot at a director position. You should apologize to your son right now for being a total failure.

You're not recycled, Manchild; rather, your life is equivalent to playing for the "mediocre" Magicians, host of the Warrior Cup or the "lowly" Icemen, host of the Caribou Cup. Here's some unsolicited advice, Manchild. You kids accomplishments are not your accomplishments. Be proud of your son, but don't put down other kids. Otherwise, those kids' parents may look at you and think that guy is a loser and has nothing to look forward to in life but to live through his 9-year old kid's accomplishments. That's a recipe for disaster for you and your kid.

My kid doesn't play for the Magicians or the Icemen, but my hat is off to both programs for organizing their own tournaments when they were locked out of other tournaments. Both tournaments will continue to get better with age.

For the being the 1st year, I think this tournament has a pretty nice field of teams, which should only get better after each year.

I am not manchild, i do not need to hide behind a moniker. This is my 2nd post now. Manchild you put yourself in a precarious position, do you let someone else take your slings and arrows, or do you step up.

iwearmysunglassesatnight & tocanuck88 & manchild - Can't we all get along?? You guys really need a big orange group hug or it's going to be a long cold winter in Somerset.

If all three of you can fit your big heads in one locker room this weekend at MM to work this out - Remember, its all about the kids having fun, just ask Bernie

Many congrats on a spectacular job to the Icemen and the Caribou Classic staff. Nothing short of amazing considering the number teams, birthyears, and the fact this was their first attempt. The inclusion of Pointstreak to report scores when many tournaments can't be bothered showed their commitment to doing it right.

It only gets better next year as the word gets out and the competition gets tougher with the better teams.

I'll second that. Not sure what anyone would/could complain about. Tourny was fun/great...no problems. Hey- it was hockey!
