Will Holy Angels win the section this year
Tom Burke, All three Reilly's, Jake Erickson, Frankie Mork, Brendon Wise, and I am sure other Chaska players off those great pee-wee teams are all at Holy Angels and the table is set. Will they win the section this year after a 5 year absense from the State Tournament and the famous Greg Trebil quote " If you like what you saw this year, wait until next year"!??

Section
As long as they fill the ranks with top recruits they should be just fine to make a run at the section once again.

Perhaps, but I doubt you'll be a part of it, Brendon.flatontheice wrote:Tom Burke, All three Reilly's, Jake Erickson, Frankie Mork, Brendon Wise, and I am sure other Chaska players off those great pee-wee teams are all at Holy Angels and the table is set. Tough section but they should be the team to beat. For the Reilly's sake I hope they are able to play in at least one State Tourney before they head off to Juniors and hopefully the Gophers. It's kind of scary to think of how strong the Mustang team would have been last year, let alone this year if those three were still going to Breck. My guess is the Stars are going to have a very good year.

They pulled Erickson away from Chaska? That would be a coup.flatontheice wrote:Tom Burke, All three Reilly's, Jake Erickson, Frankie Mork, Brendon Wise, and I am sure other Chaska players off those great pee-wee teams are all at Holy Angels and the table is set. He is and he won't have to play JV, but my guess is that's where he'll play unless he stays for one more year of Bantams.flatontheice wrote:Not 100% sure but I believe he is a 9th grader.observer wrote:Will Frankie Mork have to play JV for a year, under the transfer rule as a 10th grader, or is he an incoming 9th grader that will be eligible to make varsity? I understand he and Besse both left your school. Is this correct?Goldy23 wrote:He is and he won't have to play JV, but my guess is that's where he'll play unless he stays for one more year of Bantams.flatontheice wrote:Not 100% sure but I believe he is a 9th grader.observer wrote:Will Frankie Mork have to play JV for a year, under the transfer rule as a 10th grader, or is he an incoming 9th grader that will be eligible to make varsity? Yes. Besse transfered to Benilde this year just as his brother did a couple of years back. The privates like Breck get blasted for recruiting kids to join the program but in reality they lose a lot of kids to other privates as well. Some examples are the Reilly's who all went to Breck from K-8th grade then on to Benilde and then HA. Besse who was a lifer now at Benilde and now Mork. Not sure why, but my guess is that in the Reilly case they wanted to play AA and with Besse it may be the same. It will be interesting to see if he plays his last year of Bantams or opts to try out for the Red Knights. Cost is some cases may also be a factor as Benilde is less than half the cost of Breck/Blake. It also may be that there is still quite a bit of uncertainty surrounding the coaching situation at Breck since Chapman left.backchecker7 wrote:I understand he and Besse both left your school. Back to the thread though, I think that HA is going to have a great season and have a better shot at making it to the X than in the past several years.

Maybe they realize how bad Breck will be after this year.Goldy23 wrote:Yes. Besse transfered to Benilde this year just as his brother did a couple of years back. Just because they will lose a lot of good players, doesn't mean they will be bad.flatontheice wrote:Maybe they realize how bad Breck will be after this year.Goldy23 wrote:Yes. And before you accuse me, I hate Breck just as much as the next guy.
Stay Classy, Minnesota.
Flat, there you go again with team envy!flatontheice wrote:Maybe they realize how bad Breck will be after this year.Goldy23 wrote:Yes. Reillys tearing it up in the Elite League..should be interesting.Goldy23 wrote:Flat, there you go again with team envy!flatontheice wrote:Maybe they realize how bad Breck will be after this year.Goldy23 wrote: Yes. I see the youngest Reilly's status was changed from a def. alternate to a full time forward??flatontheice wrote:Reillys tearing it up in the Elite League..should be interesting.Goldy23 wrote:Flat, there you go again with team envy! :roll:flatontheice wrote: Maybe they realize how bad Breck will be after this year.
Could we see the all Reilly line this year for AHA? Heard they have their own playbook and they communicate telepathically.
No question, those boys are good. While they are tearing it up it appears that the HA goaltender however is not, which is to bad.flatontheice wrote:Reillys tearing it up in the Elite League..should be interesting.Goldy23 wrote:Flat, there you go again with team envy!flatontheice wrote: Maybe they realize how bad Breck will be after this year.

Russell isn't exactly tearing it up either. He gave up 3 against the worst team in the league. Lets see where everyone is at when the season is over before we start ripping on individual kids. The North team is not very good all arround.Goldy23 wrote:No question, those boys are good. Flat-What does Russell have to do with a Holy Angels post? All I was doing was pointing out that yes HA with the Reilly's and company will be a very good squad this year...And as with most teams when discussing their chances to get to State (which is what I thought this post was about) goaltending is often a key. Not ripping anyone here, Burke has proven himself throughout all levels of hockey but with a GAA of almost 7.00 and SV% of 80%, I'm sure he's not happy either. If you don't think the Elite performances are important to note then why did you bring them up in the first place?!?flatontheice wrote:Russell isn't exactly tearing it up either. Way to early to tell......
I watched them in captains practice last night for a couple of minutes and I think they will be a fun team to watch. Burke will need to step it up and be a great goaltender as I think he can.
The Reilly's all looked good and they are still growing. This youngster Mork, if he is who I think he is is smaller than Mike Reilly and I would guess he would be JV at first and see what happens.
I would love nothing more to see the boys at the state tournament, but the section is tough. Remember Danny Mattson never saw the state tournament either and he is still a great player.

From what I've seen and heard, the Reilly twins are doing very well and so is Mike. It was fun to watch them last weekend. Burke didn't look on top of his game but it happens to every goalie, they go through times where they just don't play to their fullest potential. I hear Mork is doing really well and if Trebil is willing to play a freshman or two he has a good shot. Looking at Elite rosters, they have a good portion of their team, Reilly's, Cullen Hurley, Lebate, Erikson, and Burke all playing. Around two months until the start of the season, it will be interesting to see not only this team but also Hill, Minnetonka, Eden Prairie, Wayzata, and Edina. Until then we can only guess which powerhouses will show up this year...
freshman
Trebil always takes a shot with freshman. Most of them have all turned out pretty good. Jack Hillen, Jeff Frazee, Jay Barriball, Chase Polachek, Danny Mattson and Mike Reilly. They will be fun to watch as usual.
Also note that the arena in Richfield is getting a face lift and will look much different this year.
