The teams are formed by Winny Brodt and Chris Peterson. Has been a great program/experience for our daughter and very cost effective.

They probably are already forming what will be the new younger Silver Team since all but one girl will be done at NAHA since they are entering thier senior year. They like to have the girls for two summers the primary focus is to help girls who want to play D1 get a chance for exposure and the experience to do so.

Here are the MN girls traveling to NAHA (A few of the Silver Team could not make the trip Buie, McDonald, Capistrand):

SILVER
G-Kallie Billadeau, Hopkins #30
G-Michelle Bonapace-Potvin #39
D-Maddie Marcotte #21
D-Ellie Gleason #8
D-Chistina LaCombe #10
D-Danielle Scholzen #25
D-Chelsay Witwicke #5
D-Maggie Pendleton #12
F-Bethany Brausen #16
F-Missy Mankey #27
F-Cara Johnson #11
F-Dana Gallop #7
F-Jocie Slattery #9
F-Amanda Colin #17
F-Ashley Stenerson #22
F-Corinne Henning #29
F-Meghan Lorence #20

The new team formed this year MN JR Whitecaps Blue has some of the best young girls in MN and should also do well at NAHA.

BLUE
G-Amsley-Benzie #30
G-Rolando #39
D-Erickson #18
D-Duellman #12
D-Hewes #21
D-McMillen #5
D-Armstrong #19
D-Ramsey #27
F-Cameranesi #17
F-Sylvester #14
F-Jensen #22
F-Johnson #15
F-LaCombe #9
F-Curtis #6
F-Reber #10
F-Carlson #7
F-Crowe #11

Just a team of mostly 93 and 94 based out of Connecticut with players from California, Texas, Oklahoma, NY, Mass, Illinois, Michigan. About 1/3 came from the Shattuck 16 team. For the Magog tournament some very talented soon to be collage players going to Harvard and St. Lawrence were added.

Great start for the Minnesota teams! Sounds like both games were very competitive.

MN Ice Cats beat CDN Dawson College after 1-1 tie in regulation. Bauman from Farmington scored as the 4th shooter for Ice Cats. Goalie Sobczak was huge in stopping cold 4 great shooters for Dawson - stuffed 2 dekes to right and one to left post that were great moves and the 4th shooter fired wide. They are in the semi finals against Assabet who knocked out the MN JR Whitecaps Silver 1-0. The other semi final is CDN Bluewater vs MI Little Ceasars.

NAHA Success

For the first time three MN teams made the championship rounds out of pool play. The MN Ice Cats and the MN Jr Whitecaps Blue made it to thier Championships. The JWC Blue won the U17 5-0 over NAHA Red. The MN Ice Cats played against Little Ceasars but lost 5-0. This was the best showing made by MN teams at this tournament.

...with none of them included in the poll posted in the USCHO forum thread.

There was a "little" bias in that polls voting options I think.

Congrats to all Minnesota entrants on a fine tournament and their excellent results.

Too bad the organizers snubbed the Blades, given their accomplishments this summer and the success of these other teams in this tournament, Minnesota could have without doubt had another competitive team in which to showcase.

Agreed though a few of the Blades ended up going out on JR Whitecaps Blue Team - Sammy Reber, Rachael Ramsey, Marissa Brandt others may have been invited to fill spots?

Getting teams in NAHA is very tough Blades and Saints were both turned down this year - the Blades and other MN teams will have to work hard to get a 4th MN team in though last year there were 4 (Whitecaps, Ice Cats, Walser and Crunch). Based on the success of the 3 MN teams this year may be hard to get a 4th in from MN but hopefully it can happen? They allowed in fewer teams this year and the level of competition was much better.

This years Ice Cat team will have about 50% different players next year so a few openings, JWC Blue will be back. The JWC Silver will be recast with a set of new incoming juniors who will play together for two years - Meghan Lorence was the only junior on the team.

One very unique thing about both the Ice Cats and the MN Jr Whitecaps is the relationship that Tom Press and Winny Brodt - Chris Peterson have with all the college coaches - the coaches sheet had 100 D1 or D3 listed as scouting only school not represented at D1 was Wisconsin. Winny and CP from the Whitecaps were talking to them (coaches) Players who were seniors and not committed had a lot of coaches to talk to after the event ended on Sunday. They had a list of JWC D1 players (below) - would be neat to see the Ice Cats list. Also what was neat is they were seeking input from coaches on what would bring more coaches out to MN to scout. I think they got some great ideas to gain more future exposure for MN HS girls who want to play D1.
