hawk is livin the american dream, but he should probably consider changing the name to AA hockey. How is he going to market his inhouse league? Or is that now purely showcase hockey, no trnys?

OK, so now some things make some sense.

1. United Hockey and Cory Laylin... take Ice at Maple Grove

2. Maple Grove Board Members who ran Fleming out of town are Icemen backers

3. Competition over Ice in Maple Grove and Flemings connection to United Hockey (see team directors list).

Result: So OMGA you let a couple of AAA babies ruin your bantam A team over some AAA summer Ice competition???? Funny I didn't see any of that in your letter....

Doesn't make much sense, as Jake's ice is at Braemar and the BIG.

Does anyone know if Jake is going to actually coach one of the Vapor teams, or will he just pop in from time to time? Will the Elk River Bantams be the Vapor 95s?

hey i just see the forest through the trees.... so sue me!

and it makes perfect sense. Fleming is tied with United so to put pressure on United we do it where we have power and that is our Bantam A coach... Flemming

MGHockey - Looking at your post history, you are pretty big in the Icemen association. The word I'm hearing at the rink is that CNF nailed this thing. Now Jake is gone to Elk River, the bantams are out of the maroon and gold league and I heard their having trouble getting tournaments.

Seems like OMGHA and these guys really have a tiff going by the way they hide the EuroAmerican Hockey school info on their website........why don't they give it a full tab and some space to promote their program?

http://omgha.pucksystems2.com/page/show ... key-school

CNF and Osseohockey, I've seen many nights where the community center had open ice over the past summer (one rink with lights off many times).

Does OMGHA decide who gets ice in the summer or is it the City of MG? Whats the word at the rink?

GUILT BY ASSOCIATION- There is only one Board member associated with the Icemen organization and he's one of the 2 primary mindless idiots that triggered the whole Fleming situation, even in the face of counsel to the contrary from the D3 Coach in Chief. While as I understand it this guy coaches a girls team with the Icemen org, that's about as far as it goes. Personally, I think the Icemen should give him the boot as you can see what the association with him has gotten the Icemen.

Truth is this same OMG Board has been in a number of fights with the Icemen organization over ice, Icemen tryouts, development, etc. Trust me, they're no fans. Osseohockey guy/gal, you should know better. Parents in the Icemen organization would be the last ones that would want to see Jake go as their kids would actually have a chance to play for Jake one day, unlike some of the other characters in this little drama.

How are 2 guys going to run 2 programs? Think there will be any parents concerned the other organization is getting preferential treatment after day one? my guess is hour one a parent will see one team working harder or doing something different and the tension will begin. Then the coach will attend the wrong game or just not make it at all and it will raise again....powder keg.

Bauer Supreme (Super Rink): Ron Guild, Chris Dian
HBTC All-Stars (Super Rink): Ron Guild, Chris Dian

Ok so after a few years of the manufacture sponsored teams I think it is important to consider if the sponsorship is proving positive. I will lend one experience regarding my own kid, in a recent tournament he was given an Easton hat, as soon as we got outside he said, "why do they give us easton team hats? I don't want it."
He used to Love Easton sticks now he is picking other brands off the shelf first.
I think that is hilarious their "marketing" is working in reverse! If these manufacturers keep sponsoring teams my kid won't be able to buy any brand.
Oh and I really like Red Bull sponsored YOUTH teams too brilliant. Ever see the studies on energy drinks as they relate to youth consumption....? They are a very healthy alternative to water and gatorade type drinks, NOT. I am pretty certain that by next year we will see Crown Royal 2002 born team.

Becomming just like the bad newsbears ,,,, What is next Chico's bail bonds? or Deja Vu Gentlemans club sponsoring? I like it sign me up.. I have always said it's about the parents not the kids.

I hear ya - the only reason I sign my kids up for youth sports is to create more drinking opportunities for me.

Kids sports have ALWAYS been about the parents!

i was led to believe that this is simply the recent showcase AAA structure refitted into teams with vendors sponsors attached.

the showcase team my player skated on this summer is being called something else, but the coaches running the practices, etc made it clear that for the most part, the team was going to remain mainly the same.

they are going to use the tryouts to motivate the kids to skate harder and to improve the talent level of the roster. we expect to lose some players due to costs.

the quality of the coaching is not the best, and the team (and league) probably isnt the most competitve, but...

it isnt the worst team in the world and my skater is having a pretty good time, and the group of kids and parents are pretty decent and my player loves the idea of skating for a branded team.

So this is the Thunder, Sharks, Vipers, etc renamed and sponsored? That would make more sense, otherwise they are adding another 6 or 8 teams at 5 or 6 age groups...roughly 50 more AAA teams to the Metro mix. I am all for getting more kids the opportunity to skate in the offseason, but finding 50 decent coaches is tough-

So you are saying Easton Stealth and Synergy have been lowered to the level of Showcase AAA. Can you say mass exodus by the families involved with these two teams. Many of the players and family on stealth and synergy expect to play a better grade of cometition than Showcase AAA. If the exodus does not happen this year it will next,

i believe the Easton programs scheduled showcase teams independently over the last summer.

the team my player's showcase team played (at least five times thanks to tournament placements) only lost once to any easton team.

with all respect, I don't think there is a better relative level of competition locally unless you move up to a level like the Blades, Velocity or Machine offer (or teams like the Fargo Grizzlies or Omaha Jr Mavericks).

[quote="yeahyeahyeah"]So you are saying Easton Stealth and Synergy have been lowered to the level of Showcase AAA.

Why would you assume that the level of play is going down? It's quite possible the reason for forming United is to provide better competition. Even though Showcase is part of the united AAA, it does not advertise Showcase teams. I also noticed that there will be teams at the invite level, as well as the open level... Seems like a good idea to me . :D

i think it is for the profits. Contradictory to above with better competition then open level and invite level?????? I don't think the for profits, care about the improvements made in the level of play unless the money stops rolling in. Does the McDonalds owner of five franchises care that he sees the same group of moms every Tuesday and Thursday buying breakfast and then lunch for their toddlers? No he/she added the indoor playground so parents would stay for two meals at a time. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Nothing wrong with profit... Especially if they are trying to improve the product. As far as open and invite. I believe invite is AAA and open is AA. If they are looking to have good teams that can compete at those two levels, and people are willing to pay the freight that would seem to be their business. There must be something to it ..They seem to be building the teams.
I wish there would have been summer hockey 40 years ago when I coached my kid. By the way .. I think AAA hockey should only be played in the summer ...
