INTERESTING ... word on the street is a large part of the 96 and 99 'construction cones' are heading to Velocity. Is Coach Rahn at least paying MM a finder's fee???

Not affiliated with Velocity or the team but, heard EJ and Dean Williamson were going to help on the ice. That was about a week before try outs. But that Noel and his staff were going to be the coaches. EJ was an evaluator at try outs, so he had input on who made the team, and who didn't. Already he's more involved than helping out on the ice. You might be right. The ole bait and switch. But time will tell.

mm has done a great job developing young hockey players. kids leave programs for different reasons. what i would like to know is why they would all choose vhc? there are some great aaa programs with proven records out there, why vhc? if observers are really in tune they would be looking at the the EPHA. Since vhc has been a major part of the training program
for the players of the EPHA, the program has taken a major hit. The mite program has fallen apart, (all the kids are going to mm because they do not want to be on the small rink), the squirts are behind and not ready for the next jump ....

EP Prairie Youth Program has taken a hit?? Let's take a glance at the last few years....
2007 Peewee A State Champs
2008 Peewee A 4th place State Tournament.
2007 Bantam A State Champs
2008 Bantam A State Champs
2007 & 2008 Squirt A Top 5 teams in the State. Great showings at Fargo.
2009 High School State Champs.
Hummm'mmm I smell something fishy here. You must be a coolaid drinker at MM.
People are going to Velocity becasue it is a great program for all levels. They have a great track record. Go there some afternoon and see all the High School players working out there. Edina, Minnetonka, Eden Prairie, Holy Angels, Holy Familiy, Wayzara etc...

The big difference between Velocity and MinnMade is the skill level of the kids involved in both programs. If you look at the camps both programs run you will find a higher caliber player working with Velocity than MinnMade and now you find the higher level skater leaking over to Velocity to play on their AAA teams.
MinnMade tends to attract better mite and squirt players, but when the players get older they leave MinnMade and go and find programs that have higher level instructors and coaches that tend to teach the game along with further skill development, and Velocity has that right now.

Pitbull,
All of those kids have been training with the VHC instructors for the past 6 years since they were squirts. By the way, All those teams had different players on them. Not all of those teams were the same group. Take another look at the rosters and levels. I think High off the glass was right on with his analysis. Velocity knows how to develop the talent past Squirts. The is where coaching comes into play more and more!!

I hate to see shameless business plugs on this forum. I don't think its the purpose of this blog ......... maybe I am wrong. Maybe the owners of this website should charge for advertisements. Its their website, obviously its up to them.
It's interesting reading about people flocking from here to there for training purposes. I would imagine MM and V are good places to train. Bernie's MM seemed to be the Holy Grail for some time. Now, you see some people bashing MM. Now, it's Velocity? Amazing kids from outside the metro can accomplish anything with the Mecca like places in the Twin Cities. Yes, I was being facetious.
Eden Prairie likely had a special class come through. That class of kids "sophomores" was mentioned often during the recent state high school hockey tournament. Certainly, they have an extraordinary number of players in their association as well. Did coach Rahn make them great? Or, could genetics have played a major role? By the way, Bloomington Jefferson had some special classes come through. Depending on year, so did Roseau, Edina, Duluth East, Virginia, Eveleth, Warroad, etc.
You cannot "win the cup" without good players. Otherwise, Scotty Bowman would have won every year.
To me, its surprising that a person with Edina roots didn't go after the recently departed Edina Bantam A job. Maybe he did. Seemed like a natural fit. Edina residents must know about Velocity. I would imagine his Dad had a role in the Edina Hockey Association. His bio says he was an NHL draft choice. Hockey DB confirms that is true. Velocity website bio indicates he was a collegiate national champion, super agent, scout, etc. You cannot be drafted if you are not talented. Why didn't they go after him? Maybe they did. I have to imagine he was right in front of their face. Just think how good Edina could have been.

I have to tell you, the more I read these posts and the more I am involved in association hockey, I'm realizing there are a lot of crazy people out there. Just try to remember one thing, it's not about the parents. It's about the kids. I used to really love hockey. Parents and coaches have gone nuts. All this goofy sniping back and forth, all the crap being hurled is absolutely disgusting. It seems like there's about ten people on this forum, they all know each other, and they all need psyciatric help. This place is full of a bunch of narcissists. Guess what, dad, it's not about you.
I know it would bring discrace on your family if little Johnny didn't make the A team, but the sun will rise tomorrow -- hopefully. You guys are sad.

breakout brings ups some great points! That EP class has always been loaded! They won with out Coach Rahn at many levels. He did a nice job with them as did others but they are a great athletic class that plays as a team. Coach Rahn does have a great training facility and it looks as if V is the hot new place to go. With Ep winning the State he has gotten a lot more HS teams that want to train there. I would think he is kissing EP's a** to keep those other teams interseted. As long as they keep winning he can take credit, right or wrong. Good business decision on his part. As for coaching, he did go after Edina's job and was turned down? Not sure as to why?
Wayzata Pee Wee A won state in 2007...I dont think EP was in contention (?)Yakunin wrote:EP Prairie Youth Program has taken a hit?? Let's take a glance at the last few years....
