Peewee A scores from Wednesday (game played at BIG)

New Prague-4
Bloomington Kennedy-1

Each team rosters 13 players. New Prague was missing two and one kid had to leave the game. Overall, reasonably well skated game by both teams; but the Trojans played better defense.

Burnsville-2
Lakeville North-1

Lakeville North was the rustier of the two teams in a game that started slow and really didn't gain momentum until late in the game. The Panthers drew too many penalties and the Blaze played three men short. The Blaze came back from a 1-0 deficit to score two goals in the last 6 minutes to win the game.

Hopkins 1 Bloomington Kennedy 0

Goalie show - Both teams had lots of opportunities but the goalies played very well. Fun game to watch.

Frederick/Goalie Dad

Were these scrimmages (i.e 2 period stop time and "what ever left" is running)? Or full games?

Couple of scores from Oct 24:

Lakeville South-4
Eden Prairie-2

The Eagles had only 12 players on the bench in a long game (17 minute stop time, 17 minute stop time, elongated third period) in loss. Lakeville South showed a balanced team and held leads of 2-0 and 3-1 in a game played at Eden Prairie.

Osseo/Maple Grove-2
Woodbury-1

OMG has a strong physical team and played a tough game (15 minutes stop time in first two periods and an elongated third period). OMG took a 1-0 lead early in the second; the Royals came back to tie it late in the third period only to have OMG punch in the winning less then a minute later. Well played game, the best of the young season. Game was played in the small Osseo West Rink.

D Mom - you beat me to the reply. My son was not the goalie for either team. My son was the center who couldn't put the puck in the net that night.

You are frickin' EVERYWHERE. The highlight of any Peewee season is the incredible coverage you give the Peewee A league. One just has to hope their squad is playing well because it WILL be reported on. Your call from Saturday was right on. OMG's not as big as last year, but already a lot more physical and with a ton of upside to come.

Hey, 99Goaliedad I know your son isn't a peewee goalie. I just thought it was kind of funny that some goalie parent thinks we should all kumbya for the goalies.

Scores from Oct 25:

Lakeville South-3
Blaine-0

This was the score with about 10 minutes to go in the third period in a game played this AM at Lakeville’s Ames Arena. The Cougars showed consistency in their play of all three lines and a credible defense. Blaine struggled early on and started to move in the latter stages of the game. The Bengals could have one of the top lines in the state this year, but their defense is suspect.

Edina-7
Lakeville North-1

In a game played at Breck, the Hornets came out flying in the first period and jumped to a 5-0 lead. Edina front lines showed good passing and set-up a number of combination scoring attempts against a shell shocked Panther defense. But Lakeville settled down in the last two periods as the Hornets pace slowed. It was the first look at Edina’s team, they have 5 returning A’s, 6 off their B1 teams and 6 from either peewee B2/C teams, move-ins, squirts or the Fire. Their overall size is smaller then last year’s team.

Mpls Park-2
Woodbury-2

In a game played at Woodbury, the Storm showed they will be a top D1 team again and will pressure D3 teams in regular season play. They have the potential for an extremely tough defense. Woodbury, tiring after their third game in 36 hours, loss the form the Royals showed in the two earlier games. But give the Storm credit for playing well. The Storm scored first to take a 1-0 lead and came back in the third to tie the game 2-2.

One of the top lines in the state, and they score 1 goal in two games this weekend. Sounds like the gophers top line.

Monday score:

Wayzata-6
Burnsville-3

In a well played game by both teams on the big sheet at Wayzata, the Trojans jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period. In the second period, the Blaze started to adjust to the wide surface and the two evenly matched teams (speed/size) played the remaining two periods in a 3-3 tie. Wayzata has two sharp shooters at the forwards and they scored. Early in the second period, a 10 minute checking from behind forced the Trojans to double shift their remaining two centers for much of the last two periods.

Burnsville played only thirteen forwards and played each goalie half of the game. Though the goalies played well overall, the goalie switch resulted in two Trojans goals shortly after the second goalie entered the game.

A score from a rainy Thursday night:

Edina-4
Wayzata-4

Both teams came out flying in a non-stop first period in a game played at Edina’s Braemar Arena. Wayzata scored first when a Trojan center skated solo on the Edina goalie and sliced and diced the goalie with a slight twitch and put one away in the upper right corner. Edina came back to tie the game at 1-1 and 2-2, before the Trojans jumped to a 4-2 lead only to have it evaporate in the final minutes of the third period.

The teams slowed through the second and third periods (2-15 minute stop times, followed by an extended third period). Both coaches matched lines; the Wayzata coach put his checking line out against Edina’s best and the two lines tangled for the better part of the game.

Both teams played excellent defense, goals did not come easily and were usually the result of small errors. What was best about this game is that each team’s standard play book did not work, forcing each team to improvise. The players on both teams that continued a failed play aggressively usually got the opportunity. A good game.
