One other note on the Wayzata/Edina game.
The Wayzata goalie was huge. Not super wide, but towering. Bigger than most high-school goalies. Bigger than many adults.
Both goalies did a good job and I don't want to talk about a specific kid, I'm just saying I took one look at the Wayzata net and I whimpered.

Just wondering. . ., to those who might know - is the 'tender described above a move-in or new to Wayzata program - I don't recall from past games against them in last couple of seasons someone who would have jumped that much physically. . .sounds a little like the kid from Armstrong (Icemen '97 AAA goalie)areaman wrote:One other note on the Wayzata/Edina game.

Thats him. family moved to Wayzata. Other former Armstrong kid on team is an open enrollee who has been going to Wayzata schools for several years. One took advantage of new residency rule, other changed residences. You will see a lot more of that in the coming years.sounds a little like the kid from Armstrong (Icemen '97 AAA goalie)

Thanks for the confirmation. I thought that might be the case. Understand he may also be joining some of his Wayzata mates on '97 Blades as well. Edina/Wayzata will be interchageable 1-2 for most of the season.

Results on a sleety wind driven Friday night:
Apple Valley-3
Roseville-3
Seems all the games recently have ended in ties and on ugly night at Hayes Arena in Apple Valley, the game ended in another tie. At the start, it looked like Roseville would easily beat the Eagles, jumping out to a 2-0 lead and dominating the play for most of the first period and the start of the second. But the Raiders couldn’t find the net missing wide a number of times.
Half way through the second period, the Raider defense was caught standing and a Valley forward banged in a rebound two feet from the side of the net to score. That goal put the Eagles back in the game and they began to return pressure. The game picked up speed. A Valley forward caught a Raider defenseman unaware, picked the puck and top shelved the puck past the goalie in one motion to tie the game.
Early in the third period, Valley took the lead 3-2 on a shot from the slot that had the goalie screened. The puck found the gap on the goalie’s right side. An Eagle penalty a few minutes later setup the tying goal as the Raiders powered a shot past the Eagle goalie. Both teams have potential and it will be interesting to see how they develop as the season progresses.

On a nice Saturday afternoon in Woodbury, another score
Burnsville-4
Woodbury-2
The Blaze came out blazing and quickly buried two goals against the younger Woodbury team. The 12 Blaze forwards then spent the next period and an a half teaching the Royals the meaning of checking, passing and most importantly scoring (you have to put the puck on the net to score) and built a 4-0 lead starting the third period. The fourth goal came as the Woodbury goalie made an excellent save but forgot to cover the pipe, thinking the puck was behind the net. A swooping Blaze forward took the rebound on the side of the net and poked the puck in the gap, 4-0.
But in the third period, the tiring Blaze forwards began to scramble and the Woodbury goalie learned his lesson making a tough save on a Blaze breakaway then recovering to make a streching pad save on the rebound. Woodbury forwards also learned their lessons and began to attack the goal in the third scoring two and pressuring the Blaze in the last few minutes of the game.
The Blaze are a talented team, playing well. Woodbury is learning.

Who cares where i am from, i was at the game. BTW the times stamps that post on the website are 1 hour behind. I just reported the score and I get grief about where I am from.Eastsider wrote:BlackTape wrote:Elk River 7 Vs Edina 4
so much for your 1/2 edina / Wayzata
Wasn't this game at 1:30? BlackTape did you log in from the rink? Obviously an ER dad.
I will say that Edina is not #1 in the state right now, from what I saw. Very weak goaltending and Def. and the team was very small. Elk River was the better team.
You must be an Edina DAD.
I said nothing about the game - I just commented on how quickly you jumped on with the score. One goalie geve up 7 and the other 0. Agree on the defense. Not sure about ER being the better team.BlackTape wrote:Who cares where i am from, i was at the game. BTW the times stamps that post on the website are 1 hour behind. White Bear 5
Anoka 0
Notes: Anoka played well in first period, not allowing sustained pressure from WB. WB dominated 2nd and 3rd.
Scrimmage game played with refs/clock, etc...
White Bear 7
Tartan 0
Notes: Tartan actually scored first only to have it waived off for high sticking. WB's top defensman ejected in 1st period for 3 penalties. WB went on to dominate after they cracked the seal in the 2nd period.

Scores from another rainy night in the cities:
Prior Lake-6
Farmington-2
Prior Lake took advantage of their power plays to beat the Tigers 6-2 in a game played at the new Dakotah Arena. Prior Lake is an interesting team to watch, a physical team that comes straight at their opponent and plays a strong defense. The smaller Farmington team played with more finesse, but had key break downs on defense especially at the start of the second period when a Prior Lake forward muscled his way to the goal's edge and punched in the winning goal. That was followed a minute later with a power play goal from the point off two deflections to give the Lakers a 4-1 lead. Tomorrow the Lakers take on D6 rival Edina in the same arena in what should be a very interesting game.
Hopkins-2
Jefferson-0
The Hopkins defense proved to be the difference as they shut out the Jaguars on the Olympic sheet at Bloomington Ice Garden tonight. Hopkins could be the wild card in D3 with a veteran team that includes seven returning players. Jefferson has size and talent in the forwards but haven't melded as a team. This early season November game showed that, but what counts are games in February.
Chaska-9
Kennedy-2
A wild start to the game that saw five goals scored in the first 5 minutes with Chaska taking a 3-2 lead. Unfortunately for the Eagles, their defense failed them for the rest of the first period and Chaska took advantage adding three more goals to take a 6-2 lead into the second period. A regrouped Eagle defense contained the Hawk attack in the second but their offense failed to close the score despite a number of good opportunities. In the third, the Hawks added three more to hand the Eagles their second D6 loss.

Im not a bookie but I would take your Prior lake over edina bet at 10-1... btw im not an edina fan either.. good luck tonight but I think the lakers lose by 5. If they do win I would bet that over half of this board will consider it an upset...InigoMontoya wrote:Edina loses to Elk River; Prior Lake beats Burnsville. I'm not sure the odds makers would consider that much of an upset.
