Bantam Goalie Needed
Just found out through the grapevine that my sons B2 Bantam team in Stillwater just lost their only goalie. Is there anyone out there that would be interested in having their son play for us? Possibly someone from North St. Paul, Roseville, Mahtomedi, Forest Lake, Woodbury or any other surrounding community? We need to find someone ASAP as we have had to practice without a goaltender. Any suggestions are welcome!!!! FYI - Our team is going to be very strong at this level!!!! Good coach and good players.....

no, Stillwater was short on goalies at the bantam level. We run 1 A team, 1 B1 team and 2 B2 teams and there were only 6 goalies trying out. So now there are 2 goalies on the A, 2 goalies on the B1 and then 1 each on the 2 B2 teams. The goalie on our team decided he doesn't want to play anymore so he is hanging the blades up. If a goalie comes in they will get to see all of the shots in practice and in games.

once upon a time, i played on a bantam b team where the goalie broke his ankle halfway through the season. for about a month and a half, until we stole a full time goalie, we rotated through strapping the pads on until Rickie got back in the swing of things. we didnt win a game, but we had a great time.
this was in the distant past, near prehistoric times. you know- in the eighties.

You've got enough goalies and the rosters aren't set. Go with one goalie on either A or B1, whichever has a clear stronger goalie. It will help their team to only have the single strongest goalie. Goalies from lower levels can attend practices so there's always two and goalies from lower levels can always be used in a game should there be an injury or illness. Just slide each goalie down a level. That's the way it goes and all will receive more ice and playing time. You bring someone in and none of your association goalies benefit from the one dropping out. Use this to benefit each of your goalies.

This makes way too much sense, so it will never happen.observer wrote:You've got enough goalies and the rosters aren't set. Makes sense to do this if you know before tryouts , however I would not want to be a Coach/Coordinator choosing the kid and pulling him DOWN after he has already made a Team. I am assuming they're trying to find one first before that route is taken. Hopefully there's another goalie out there that is either sharing net time or playing C that would be interested.
Good luck to you StillH20 Horse -

Nobody said it would be easy just what's best for all the goalies and the Association. Nobody is being pulled DOWN either. Goalie play at Bantam isn't always equal. A Bantam A team, with one goalie better than the other, might give 70% of the games to the stronger goalie. Goaltending is different than being a skater. What you're doing is offering one goalie an opportunity to play every game. Could be 40 games instead of 15. The goalie that makes the sacrifice should be the one and only goalie on the team he volunteers to help. A good goalie can make a real difference for a team. Be that good goalie, get to play every game, and develop faster than the ones splitting time.
