Eden Prairie Sophomores

Post by welikehockey231 »

The upcoming sophomores at EP have a good group just havent been great in the last couple years. Do you think they will have any effect on the Varsity and JV teams this year?

Willey was a senior last year. The rest you are right about and this is a very strong group.

These are the sophmores that were on the team last season, they won State. That would make them Juniors this year.

No to the initial question.

Add Nick Seeler to the list of the strong junior class.

Welikehockey - I like were you are going with this. No doubt last years sophs were great...I don't recall another class having such a impact. Will any of EP's last year bantams be able to break into the varsity line up? I have the sense that EP is just going to keep reloading with strong talent for the next few years.

D-Joe Kerker saw plenty of varsity action last year as a soph. Also look for a couple of sophs on last years JV team to be in the mix now as juniors.

To clarify the initial question: will any present sophs (not the super team juniors) have any impact at JV or Varsity levels?

EP does not have any sophs that will have any impact at all on the team at any level? I would call that an amazing statistical anomaly if you consider the number of skaters in their program.

JV maybe, doubt Varsity. With 6 returning Letter winners on D and 8 up front, be tough for any sophmore to crack the lineup.

It would be hard to argue with that

Do 4th line guys letter at EP or something? I can think of at least three senior forwards and one D that aren't returning, so I'm curious how 6 underclassmen defenseman lettered last year. Rolling 7 D with Leddy at the point seems almost stupid. Same with the forwards, I just don't see them consistently rolling four lines, especially with the surplus of talent on the first three. I'm speculating so someone please correct me.

Every school has different requirements for "Lettering" so many periods, just making Varsity a lot of different things. So yes EP could have had 6 retruning Lettermen on D.

EP has typically rolled 4 lines consistently. That's what makes them a perennial power-depth.

It would be hard to argue with that

Re-tooling form last year's EP team

Post by Lakeviewing »

With the lost of three seniors leadership on forwards that played a major role in last year team and the loss of two defensive places. The new 2009-2010, less these major role players at forward and less Leddy will just simpley out score the oppositions. Look for EP to simply out score their competition for the next year. Their defense may not live up to a Leddy standard, but there is way too much scoring ability with EP's first two lines to think any in the Lake Conference to contend with them. This will last this year and may be the next year, depending who sticks around. The next couple of year will be down for EP. There is not a lot of up comming talent in the next two years.

Guess we'll find out how much talent EP has left once the season starts. Personally not as impressed with the '09-10 team but we'll find out soon enough.

No EP sophmores made the regular roster this year. The only chane any of them have to see some varsity action now is if they get on a swing line. This is compared to 10-12 sophs last year contributing on a regular basis. People hype the loss of Leddy and say it will kill the team, but think how much more expierenced this team is than last year. Plus, they have a full state tournament's worth of expierence that they didn't have going into the X last year.
EP two out of three.
