The tournament begins the season for Woodbury. I think last year it featured some of the first games of the season for the entire state, but it wasn't much of a tournament with Farmington and Como Park. With those two in the tournament, Woodbury could pretty much count on beating Tartan and taking its own trophy. With Minnetonka and D. Marshall with Woodbury and Tartan this should be a great tournament to see with a lot of skill, almost like a mini Schwan Cup.

As a side note, it's good to see Tartan and Woodbury play each other in this tournament as I think they used to be in the same conference back in the 80's and 90's. If they were in the same conference today they would be very big sports rivals as the two schools are quite close to each other in neighboring towns. In fact, Tartan's school boundary dips a little bit into Woodbury.

Yeah. I am not sure but i believe there is One Nowiki at woodbury and one At Tartan. They are cousins and last year was fun to watch them play against each other. I predict a Woodbury Vs. Minnetonka final that comes down to how well the woodbury goalie plays. Can't wait to watch.

Hey, if the new logo is more glitzy and the parents think their kid can have more glory, I promise you they will jump them to East Ridge.
Not this year they won't.

There is one big reason that this wont happen! His name is Wes Bolin! Maybe you should get a clue. More talent has slipped through the cracks of this school in the last few years, and when Wes Bolin arrived, there potential was realized. The parents looking for glitzy send there kids to Hill, Cretin, and St Thomas Academy. last time I checked, the last time any of these teams met up with Wes Bolins Boys, Woodbury won. To answer your curiosity, dont expect a Wes Bolin experience at Eastridge. individual talent alone doesnt win. Just ask Bill Moore......

So these are regular season games or scrimmages? If they are scrimmages, that would mean that all these teams are using their three scrimmages at one time, correct?

Yep there is a two year moratorium on transfers I believe. And Faceguard79 the logo sucks. A simple W/lion beats a strange drawing of a bird any day. Even if the logo was good, it wouldn't matter. Two seasons ago a player transferred from Stillwater because of the success of the team and more exposure (so I heard). He didn't switch because he thought blue and white complemented his appearance better.

If you mean that kids will have more glory due to playing more, I disagree with you on that as well. What about the kids that skate for Jefferson that really live within the Kennedy boundaries? They could have a lot of playing time skating for the Eagles, but they want to be on a successful team that plays the same level of competition in the lake conference.

If East Ridge's hockey program flops, and I really don't care either way, it won't be much of a stretch to make the easy switch to Woodbury or Park, two schools that actually represent towns and have tradition.

East Ridge represents a town as much as Tartan, Simley, Henry Sibley and many others do.

Such as Eastview? Also many are not aware that Wayzata High School is actually located in Plymouth - do they represent Plymouth?

Lets get back to the Tourney. ER isnt even in it.

This is a showcase of some nice talent, I'll take Woodbury over Tonka. Tartan over DM. A couple things come out of this Tartan plays well gets some respect, DM will show they can skate with the big AA schools, Woodbury makes an early statement and Yonka gets pissed and goes on a run til the end of the season where they will meet Woodbury in the Finals at State.

Again just my PREDICTIONS.....................................we all know how the last topic went.

I would expand that to include the final outcome of the tournament will rely on how the goalies from each team plays. It will be one of the first games for each so there are going to be some mistakes made and if the goalies can cover for these, it might be the difference. Tartan's Gierke had good numbers last year and won some games for the Titans so they should not be counted out. Tartan/Woodbury also has some meaning between the teams. Woodbury's Ness/Moore combo will continue to be good in the nets. I believe Minnetonka has a new netminder this year so it will be interesting to see how he does in back to back games or if they will have two to rotate in the early part of the year. I don't have a feel for Duluth Marshall in the net. Should be a good opener for these teams as eveyone in the tourney has something to prove right out of the gate.

No, Tonka has their same goalie Jim Kruger, he is a senior this year
