Who is White Bear's Goalie?
Not that it matters of course, cause whoever it is is going to get lit up by HM (twice) but if it is who it has been rumored to be, let's just say that the Hill student section is going to be haveing a lot of fun with him

Re: Who is White Bear's Goalie?
If he will even be declared eligible this season after having two transfers in one school year already.Northsider wrote:Not that it matters of course, cause whoever it is is going to get lit up by HM (twice) but if it is who it has been rumored to be, let's just say that the Hill student section is going to be haveing a lot of fun with him
what student section?
wbl HAS a student section for every game, as do most high schools. Paint their faces etc... HM has two student sections, one that sort of shows up for wbl only to realize it isn't much of stusec, and one for sta which also has pretty lame attendance if they have to drive more than a few miles.
Even at the empty schwans cup losers bracket wbl had its students there, faces painted, HM had parents and sibling too young to stay home alone, that was it.
I'm sure whatever fun they have will be in line with all the Christianity they are supposedly taught???? huh. sounds like you are getting excited to be one of the classless chumps that wreck hockey games for those of us that enjoy them.

HM - WBL
Not this crap again. I guess after watching 10 straight losses to Hill-Murray the best WBL can come up with is that they have a better student section. I hope WBL can beat HM this year. It's not really much of a rivalry if the Pioneers always win. For the record it's now 49-22-2 in favor of HM. Looking forward to win #50 over WBL on Dec. 15th.
Another transfer goalie didn't Sager learn enough from his last transfer goalie. I think the kid played in about 4 games sucked it up and left. Unless this kid is the next coming of patrick roy (obviously he isnt if he didn't even play at Hill and got kicked off the midget team he was on) it wont really make a difference for the bears. But with this kid being a transfer im sure sager will give him opportunities to play in front of the white bear kids he has that have been dreaming about playing for the high school team since they were mites. Its kind of sad that sager lets these mediocre transfers in treats them like gods and craps on the wb kids.
Sager, like any other high school coach, is going to play the best player so he can win games whether that player be a transfer or notAppleman wrote:Another transfer goalie didn't Sager learn enough from his last transfer goalie. Yes that might be a valid point if the transfers were acctually better than what he already has and in the past this wasn't true. I don't know if it is here either...Sampair has little to no real varsity experience ( I don't know if 10 shot games against sibley and north st.paul count as experience) and from what I have heard from players is that he was no better than youger sophmore at tryouts. Maybe if Sager showed a little support for the White Bear kids he would be a little more respected in White Bear? Sager had a transfer student living in his basement at one point I mean come on.mnhcky65 wrote:Sager, like any other high school coach, is going to play the best player so he can win games whether that player be a transfer or notAppleman wrote:Another transfer goalie didn't Sager learn enough from his last transfer goalie. Re: HM - WBL
HA... I long for the day when the playing field is even, like open enrollment and open athletics. So how many years did lechner spend developing all this talent in the HM Association??? none. They simply go there for hockey, and some leave. They get some of the best kids from WBL, Still, , Forest Lake, Mounds View, Roseville, Wisconsin, etc...stpaul wrote:Not this crap again. Pick the top two or three kids from 10+ associations and develop them on JV and Vars, and all you can muster is one Championship in the past how many years. It should be a regular occurrence, especially when playing in a region who's talent is diluted by your team. If Still, WBL, etc... received the top 2 or 3 from just a few other associations and didn't lose any, what would be the record??? Hill wouldn't see another state tourney.
They should only lose 1 or 2 games tops per year every year, not lose 10-11.. EVER... especially with that schedule??? They should NEVER lose to Richfield, that is unheard of, Mahtomedi??? wow, they only lost four players last year, thats like the top four from one association, they get the top players from a lot more than that? ey do more to un-develop top talent than any other school period.
The coaching is sub par, they manage to do less with more every year. Sags gets his bantams from WBL maybe a transfer occasionally, but loses some of WBL top bantams EVERY YEAR to HM, yet they still show up in the finals and its always close???
Watching those first line primo's pump fist after making the score 8 or 9 to zip against simley in the middle of the second period in the middle of January. VERY tough to watch, would be much harder to take part in, but not at Hill, its encouraged. Hard to stomach! Must be why there is student section actually cheering on a TEAM at the other schools and why four kids last year decided they cared more about other activities than the hockey team...cause it isn't really a team, one thing they got RIGHT, they recognized a sham of a TEAM.

yes
Whatever it is, i'm sure there are rules that need to be followed if so, then no issue. I would just like to see WBL beat HM, scrimmage, game, region?? any and I don't care if they recruit sidney crosby. Got a feeling, it would be a good good night...Goldfishdude wrote:It's getting pretty clear that there IS open enrollment with the crap going on at WBL right now.
Not what i heard. Players and parents at tryouts said he was hands down the no.1 and a friend at Hill with kid on team last year said he was hands down the best goalie when they went head to head in scrimmages and split the scrimmage, and those were against good teams. Attitude didn't help, but there were apparently many promises that weren't fulfilled by coaches, so there you go, the other side... There are two sides to each story and all we have here are rumors?Appleman wrote:Yes that might be a valid point if the transfers were acctually better than what he already has and in the past this wasn't true. All i know is i saw a few games and the goalie they had was not varsity level, if not for playing with the all star recruits he wouldn't be, the many weak goals and losses prove it. Neither was Phillippi as a sophomore, and wasn't much better as a junior, but he did look much better as a senior AND he didn't lose to Richfield??? OUCH... Rich only had 10 shots. So maybe next year is the year for Hill. Hopefully WBL beats em.... always pulling for WBL and Sags, you guys give him a bad rap simply for not beating Hill, he has what four or five guys playing at HM this year, VARSITY, as every year. He has out played them two years in a row in regions and about 3 or 4 of the past five, only to come up short, but outplayed them and wins were deserved. One day they will come. he will get em, and I'll be there to enjoy it with or without transfers.
If I had the money I'd build him a bigger basement. How does that rate compared to Hill having 100% transfers? and 1/4 of the team from WBL = Munson, Sampair, Schulze, Bruchu?, i know there are more can't remember the names. The JV has a bunch of WBL guys too. How many schools lose this many kids to a top program and still compete with them, and with what one or so transfers??? give him a break i say ziggy wilf should give sags a raise.

Are you kidding me why do you think all the best White Bear players are leaving?.....Because they know Sager and the whole White Bear program is a joke. They don't want to play for Sager and his coaching staff that is not respected by anyone. I have never talked to a ex-white bear player of the past four years and had them say they loved sager he is so great. Most of the responses from them are that guy is an idiot. I have talked to college recruited players from past WB teams where the colleges urge them to leave early and go to juniors because they no Sager is a tool. In the past four years there were no white bear kids playing at Hill that I know of....and maybe thats why white bear could compete with them and even then they were very much the underdogs. So your theory that sager loses all of his good players to Hill every year and can still compete with them is not a very good one. Maybe now WB is losing players to Hill but that is because Sager has dug his own grave in WB and nobody that is any good wants to play for him. (so lets bring in the mediocre transfers and everything will be alright ha) White Bear was able to compete with Hill but now that is going to change, until Sager leaves, white bear is going to keep losing its better players that want to play for GOOD coach and somewhere they can actually get better. In years to come white bear will not be able to compete with the pioneers it wont even be close.[/b][/b]

Wow!
The anger in White Bear is a bit too much for me...that being said Bruchu is from Stillwater and his parents chose to send their children to Hill-Murray due to their values, i.e. Roman Catholic, not for hockey. Some times people make decisions for their kids based on factors other then athletics, I know that's hard to believe but it's the truth. Some people sacrifice four wheelers, boats, new cars, etc. to pay for an education that they feel will provide better opportunities for their children down the road. I know that some kids at Hill come from wealthy backgrounds, and a few attend Hill simply for hockey, but the great majority are middle class kids from hard working families.

Please don't judge everyone in WB based on the malcontent's that spew their garbage on this fourm. Re: HM - WBL
Hey, guess what. How many kids did Sager develop in the WBL association? yep - 0. It's a community based hockey program that is NOT run by the local High School. It is run by many volunteers that put in a great deal of time and effort to make hockey an enjoyable and worth while experience for everyone regardless of where they choose or will choose to go to school. Kids develop on their own with the guidance of their parents and that particular years coach.HShockeyz wrote:HA... HM - WBL
HShockeyz does the same old whining that's been going on out here on the NE part of town for 50 years. He "longs for the day" when "the playing field is equal", Hill sucks, the coach sucks, there is no team, just a bunch of "transfers", blah, blah, blah. Well keep whining and keep on longing. Hill-Murray has a 50 year tradition of winning hockey and WBL has some folks with a 50 year tradition of complaining about it.
I know first hand how wrong you are. Families send their kids to Hill-Murray for lots of reason - one of them is hockey. Our huge suburban public high schools are failing to educate and involve way too many kids. 95% of kids at HM are involved in activities including sports, music, theatre, religion & service. The academics are top notch and the kids go on to very good colleges. Hundreds of middle class families make a lot of sacrifices to pay the tuition that is now over $10,000. Families and kids at HM are proud of their school and are a part of a great community.
Bill Lechner is an outstanding coach, a good guy and sets high expecations for his players. Last year's suspensions are actually a good example of that. Ask the kids who have played for him if they were a part of a team.
I doubt my arguments will influence Mr. HShockeyz. Go ahead & keep on bitching. See you on Dec. 15th at Aldrich.

Every time a new thread on WBL is created, we should start a pool on how many posts it will take for the rips on Sager to start.
Looks like it was the right decision regarding Sampair by the MSHSL. Leaves him in a tough spot, but perhaps he should have glanced at the rules before pulling all those transfers.
