Info on Cloquet
Just wondering how they will look this year. Or will they be any good in the coming future?
Let's Play Hockey
Re: Info on Cloquet
This Cloquet team is a LOT different from last year's team... this team seems to understand that they were slightly embarrassed last season winning so few games and not being competitive in most.MNRinkRat wrote:Just wondering how they will look this year. They are going to be extremely physical this year, at least I hope what we saw in the Jamboree continues through to their season.
Look for Ryan Kedrowski to be decent in net, and the offense to get a lot of chances while crashing the net. There's a huge amount of potential with Jack McFarlane being healthy, and 7 seniors, who as mentioned hopefully will play this season to redeem themselves after last year. I'm really looking forward to a much better showing than 08-09.
All that said, the season starts Saturday night at home against Virginia, most people's favorite for a trip to the Class A tourney.
Breakdown/Hockey Hub at the game
The Breakdown/Hockey Hub will be at the game, so look for a recap with photos and possibly video/audio from the Virginia at Cloquet tilt Saturday night.
We ranked McFarlane among the top players in the state in his class, so we're excited to see how he's progressed for the Lumberjacks, but more importantly how the other Cloquet players have improved around him.
We're also excited to see Virginia/MIB and all those juniors who come back with a year of additional experience, including their state tournament visit. Obviously, SCSU-bound Garrett Hendrickson is top-notch, but we'll also see about the other Blue Devils like Travis Eddy, Jordan Krebsbach, Wes and Andrew Judnick, etc.

Sophomore #4 Adam Hanson will be someone to really watch this year.. his first Varsity action.. he's a bit older (turned 16 already) and more mature athlete after 2 years of Varsity baseball already.. he's a strong kid for only being a Soph.

Justin Jokinen's brother Chase (#14) saw regular time at D last year and should be a leader as a junior this year.

Joe Singpiel made an impact at the jamboree also.. another junior who'll be on the ice a lot this year, and if he stays healthy will be a good hockey player. He had a really good year as a strong safety for the football team this year.

I could go on and on with positive observations from this year's jamboree, especially after last season's disappointments, but it's all from the LSC Jamboree and not game action so I'll wait for more once tomorrow night's game happens
Might as well post a Jack McFarlane pic also, these all have been in the photo section/link

Yep it was all purple last year... the black on purple for the road isn't *that* bad.. but when they wear the white home jerseys with black breezers.. that will be odd. It could be that they have black for practice and purple for real games but we'll see Saturday night.brandy38 wrote:yeah the combination of the black gloves and breezers is a little off-putting. They should get purple gloves and breezers. They had purple last year.

jokes
its kind of hard to say a team is going to play better when they have already tied central in a scrim and got shut out by virginia...

too bad east doesn't play class a teams like cloquet. East plays one of the toughest schedules in the state this year. Cloquet plays teams like Proctor, Ashland and Hibbing. East plays teams like Minnetonka, Eden Prarie, Wayzata, Centennial, Edina etc.DHMN wrote:IF the Greyhounds played Virginia.. the outcome would be similar.. Cloquet also plays within a conference, which I believe dictates your schedule to a certain degree. The Jacks schedule a few years ago also contained Mtka, Edina, Blaine, etc, but with numbers being down and budgets what they are I assume it isn't feasible for them to keep scheduling these teams. I am guessing with Cloquet's talent level dipping a bit as compared to years past, those teams would rather not schedule them either.greyhoundfan wrote:too bad east doesn't play class a teams like cloquet. Its a good thing the East side of Duluth never experiences any of these issues.

Well actually, they don't. Not a losing season in 56+ years.Lumberjack wrote:Cloquet also plays within a conference, which I believe dictates your schedule to a certain degree. Whats wrong with playing Hibbing? To put Hibbing in the same sentence as Proctor and Ashland is absurd. I don't know where you've been the last 10 years but Hibbing is always one of the more competitive teams up north and in Class A.greyhoundfan wrote:too bad east doesn't play class a teams like cloquet.
