Who is going to be the team to beat in the IRC this year?
And who are some players to watch for?

Virginia will dominate the IRC this year
They completely controlled the scrimmage against I falls and jamboree against Hibbing

Hibbing is looking pretty good with Ryan Johnson and freshman Adam Johnson. I think it will Hibbing vs. Virginia for the finals this year. If Mound beat Virgina 3-0 and Hibbing beat Mound 3-1, that says something!

Hibbings got a decent lineup this year. They lost Jamnick but theyve got some other decent players. They played good against mound today and a Hibbing vs Virginia final would be interesting.

The falls controlled the game for the first half but once the power play and penalty kill started then Virginia took over. To say virginia completely controlled is ridiculous. ANd it helped the falls where missing bounds and corrin

This is a typical Virgina BlueDevil quote. They make ridiculous statements that most of the time aren't true. To say they'll completely dominate is absurd. I think its up for grabs. There really is no clear cut favorite.

I looked at these posts earlier today. I must say that Hibbing should have beaten the Falls much worse than they did but, Corrin didn't play and he would have made some difference. I must also agree that the Johnson kids that are mentioned looked good. The Sr. got two goals and one was a dandy. The younger one is only a sophomore, I don't know if they're related, (Johnson is a pretty common name), but is he ever slick for a 9th grader. So that guy was right, and they do have some other good players. But don't forget that the Falls started slow last year and was quite a different team by the end. I wouldn't take shots at "bluedevil" though, he's probably a proud youngster. I think with Hendrickson's kid and Krebsbach and Belobaba and Chesser, and a pretty good goalie, they will be the team to beat. As far as comparison scores, well, it looked like both teams beat up on Mound. Hibbing simply got a couple by what sounded like a pretty good goalie. It will be interesting to see it shake out. But if you get a chance, go watch that freshman from Hibbing, he's impressive for his age. If he ever gets big and strong, I'd like to be his agent!

The younger johnson (adam) is only a freshman and I think is actually playing just as good if not better than his older brother. Cant wait to see how he will be playing in a few years.

everyone seems to be forgetting that theres duluth in the section too. Im not sure which one is in the section this year but i would count on either marshall or hermantown to be in the finals, whichever is in the section this year.

Central and Marshall are the Duluth schools in 7A. Hermantown and Denfeld are in 5A.

Marshall is nothing special this year, so don't be too sure that they'll be playing for the trip to state. Virginia, Hibbing, and I Falls will definitely test them.

Typical Virginia idiot. Always have to brag about something. Why dont you worry about your own team instead of talkin crap about every1 else.

How about these scores:

Minnetonka - 8
Hibbing - 0

Minnetonka - 7
VIRGINIA - 0

I wonder why that one wasn't used as a comparison

yes you are right I should've added that too...
we'll just have to see what happens when virgina plays the fall and Hibbing...

score comparisons never tell the whole story... I only used it because someone else did.

yes, and people are also talking about the falls too. i was just pointing out that there are other good teams in the section outside the range that could fight for the section

They don't tell the whole story. Your right! Common opponent comparison is just a way, early in the season, to see where your team stands. Its kind of vague, but it still gives you somewhat of an idea. When its time for Hibbing to play Virginia using the Mound and LF games as comparisons would be ridiculous but for right now its okay to use those to compare the teams early on.
