Yeah wasnt too impressed He has a nice shot but from what I saw kinda half hearted on faceoffs and gave up a breakaway. East Ridge actually played pretty decent. But that hair... yuck.Lucia4President wrote:East Ridge 2

The only thing that leaves me speechless about Benik is his hair.

I agree with you, he didn't give his best effort on faceoffs. He has a nice shot and some speed, but he is small, sloppy, and can't seem to find the defensive zone.EHSHack wrote:Yeah wasnt too impressed He has a nice shot but from what I saw kinda half hearted on faceoffs and gave up a breakaway. Benick kid
I watched this FSN game. Not too impressed with the Benik kid. The kid can shoot and can skate, but he never really got into the mix along the boards where some phyiscal was needed. He skated away from the pressure so his teamates had to look to get him the puck in open ice. A big time player comes from the scrum to feed off his team mates, give and goes and play with his linemates. His type of play is rather selfish. Find me on the ice, as I can score. I see this too often with kids that rack up goals, but never really engages into the game as a two way player. With as much as his ice time as this kid gets, no wonder he scores the number goals he has playing a suck hole. This level of play doesn't work at the next level. He needs to get involved a lot more at the forecheck and physical level of play in the offensive and defensive zones. Just my thoughts. Playing D is just as important as playing O.

Re: Benick kid
I think he is told not to get into battles along the wall or pressure hard in the D-zone. Since he does play so many minutes, conserving his energy for when he has the puck is the best thing for the team. Benik is fast and can shoot the puck, and when you're playing the teams St. Francis does, he can obviously score 2-4 goals a night just by waiting around for the puck to bounce into space.Lakeviewing wrote:I watched this FSN game. Honestly, I don't think he is going to dress much at SCSU. He was knocked off the puck easily all night, and the kids in the WCHA are a little bigger and stronger than players on East Ridge. He has to play a couple years of juniors.
