Where on the Star Trib's website are those stats kept? I looked last season, but the Trib seemed even further behind in updating than did the Pointstreak website, which is quite easy to use.

I entered each team’s stats into an Excel file and could sort form there. It took some time and did it just for the end of the season. The strib has moved the data to the "Game Face" page and then you need to go under the stats and scores link - Hockey 09-10. There is a drop down for (08-09) year.

observer wrote:You might have to wait a few weeks as half of the top sophomores were playing Bantam A last year. As a total number probably less than 10% of this season's sophomores, last year's freshmen, played high school hockey last year. Plus, scoring is just an ok measure of who are the best players. Don't get me wrong, several on the scoring list will be among the top sophomores but others will not. My top 5 returners from last years scoring list,

Boyd 93
Horn 93
Michaelson 94
Skjei 94
Dickman 93

Top 5 for next year are

Horn = Great goal production
Michaelson = looks to have done well in the Elite leauge
Young = Very good last year at the game I saw
Dickman = Great size and will have better players around him this year.
Arentz = almost 20 goals as a Frosh.

Well, if you are, I would suggest that the best freshmen from the 2008-09 season might be the best sophomores for the 2009-10 season. Of course, I am just focusing on scorers here, so the defensive defensemen and goalkeepers will need their own cheerleader.
Teak wrote:Just to finish the thought, here is the final list of freshmen regular season scoring for 2008-2009. I pulled out the 'games played' stat since most of these will have played 25 regular season games. Some teams, however, did not report all 25 (e.g., Duluth Denfeld showed only 16 total games in their summary). Oh well. It is rough measure.

Me being a fan of the north metro/north suburban conferences, ive seen spring lake park play quite a bit, AJ Fossen was a fairly talented player but was definately carried by two seniors on the 1st line, we'll see what he does this year without those two leading scorers. Also, Auman from park is by far the best defenseman out of park ive ever seen, he needs to get bigger but the way he reads the ice and plays the puck is very impressive.

Very nice player Lee but East is pretty deep at Forward position. All depends on how much the soph improved over the summer. I bet he gets playing time, good player.

Of last year's forwards, they return:
Lutzka
Schendel
Mellin
Meyer
and Paulseth, but he's moving to defense.

That leaves 5 spots to fill on the top 3 lines with players off of last year's Bantam and JV teams. Any ideas as to who those might be?

I stand corrected Karl I thought that East had ample numbers of returning Forwards in the Junior and Senior class. It looks like a few sophomores will fill in nicely.

Vince Pedrie from AV moved in from Chicago and I have heard he looks very good so far. Add him with Smith and Michaelson the 2 returners that playd as freshman and hopefully all three can have big years.

STA Top Freshmen

Post by mnhockey037 »

Watch for Schurhamer, Krieger and Commers at STA. Schurhamer was on the short list for USNDP and looks to have a good season as returning All Conference Honorable Mention as a freshman. Krieger was able to gain good ice time on a team stacked with good forwards.

A number of sophomores put up points last night but one stood out in the paper this morning.

Tim Fellner, Holy Family, 3 goals and 3 assists on their 6 goals. Scored or assisted on every goal.
