Which is why WB v HM is my choice. The December game is always a thrill. But, there's nothing like sections at the Coliseum playing HM. The students, and players are so overcome with emotion it's crazy. I get goose bumps just thinking about it.

As for Public vs. Privates, Cretin vs. Woodbury over the past four years or so has always been fun to watch. Always a back and fourth, physical game.got some wrote:Agreed.HShockeywatcher wrote:

For the most part, I agree.HShockeywatcher wrote:Wherever you are is the biggest.
However, there are a few rivalries out there that are consistently mentioned as great, even by those who have not seen them. These ones tend to come out of schools where hockey is a very important part of the culture. The whole school feeds off the very prospect of the game, and the games themselves always seem to involve some little twist. History plays a big role, too.
WB vs HM is always great in February/March. Too bad its at the col, if the fans could surround the rink it would be awesome, still pretty good though. The december game not quite as good but good.karl(east) wrote:For the most part, I agree.HShockeywatcher wrote:Wherever you are is the biggest.

Sorry but I can guarantee you that if you ask any hockey player from Edina who their biggest rival is they will all say Minnetonka and and Minnetonka kids will all say Edina. These kids are all brought up being preached to that they cannot lose to the other, it is always the most important game on their schedules. Lately the games between these teams have been great because both teams have been very good. There is nothing like a sold out game between Minnetonka and Edina at Braemar or Pagel. Anyone else who states that they're big rivals with Minnetonka or Edina is just delusional.HockeyMN1 wrote:Eden Prairie vs Edina is by far the best west metro rivalry. The Holiday tournament game at Breamar is always my favorite game of the year and every game between these two teams is insane. These two teams hate each other no matter what sport it is, and hockey is the epitome of their matchups since it is the only sport where Edina usually even has a chance
Haha, good one. Come down to Breamar for the Holiday tournament and try to find a seat. It's not exactly a PG event with the student sections too.Slap Shot wrote:Not better than Minnetonka-Edina, sorry.HockeyMN1 wrote:Eden Prairie vs Edina is by far the best west metro rivalry.
EP two out of three.

Read what I said, there is no chance anyone from Edina would say EP is a bigger rival to them than Tonka, I guarantee it.HockeyMN1 wrote:Haha, good one. And what makes them such good rivals?
Um-DuLuth v Minnesota
Ok, well you're wrong. I know plenty of Cake Eaters who consider EP thier biggest rival. EP Edina is a classic cross-sport rivalry and is definitly more intense than Edina Tonka. The EHS=MHS game sells out every time and last year at pagel I had to get there 3 hours before the game just to stand in line behind about 200 other people, and when I went to Braemar at a similar time frame I was too late for ticket. MHS started fielding a competitive team with EHS dating back to the early 80's while EPHS didnt join unitl 20 years later. Never mind the two play in the same conference and up until recently were in the same section. Your argument holds no water, these two play in all sports against each other and have far more history.HockeyMN1 wrote:Haha, good one. btw I would never argue this rivalry is the biggest in the state but compared to EPHS its not even close.

best rivalry
Mighty Ducks v Eden Hall varsity.
Just sick, JV steals regular season from varsity. The goons throwing stuff in the stands, the big hits, and in the end, he gets the girl. Don't get no better than this.

stillwater vs. hill is becoming a great rivalry. stillwater has been getting better and all those kids can't stand them stealing stillwater players. the 2 ot lose in section finals last year has increased the hatred
Hahahaha..... no
Stop kidding yourselves Stillwater. No one at Hill really cares about playing you guys any more so than Tartan, Mahtomedi, Mounds View, Roseville, North St. Paul, South St. Paul, etc.
