Well if any indication by the box score is correct, Alex Gierke from Tartan stopped 52 of 56 shots versus Woodbury.

Yeah but majority of those goals were the defense being lazy. Ness had a rough one. Let's wait until sections because the kid will back in fighting shape.

No matter how bad your D is, anytime you give up 9 goals on only 39 shots there's something wrong with the goaltender. There's no excuse for that.

Were you at the game? Did you see the lack of effort from Woodbury? Minnetonka skated around them like they were squirt C's. Yes obviously you cannot blame all of those goals on the defense however Ness didn't have a horrible game. They were scoring off second and third rebounds, rebounds the D should have cleared away but they were too busy looking for a huge hit. He only played the first and second then Bolin gave Pat Moore a look. Watching the game it seemed like those were the only two playing with heart and desire.

Well the usual starter, Ankeny, didn't play the championship of the Turkey Trot against Wayzata on saturday Girard did. He played fairly well in a losing effort only allowing three goals. I found it to be an odd move by Giles though benching the starter for all of last season.

Did I see that Friday Night Mound's Goalie made 45 Saves in a 3-0 Shutout at Virginia who is a pretty good team?

Can anyone confirm or offer up some details on him and this game?

I have a goalie that some of you guys might not know a whole lot about. Senior Goalie for Moorhead; Logan Marks, he has been playing since his sophomore year and is a fundamentally very sound goalie. He stops the shots he is supposed to stop. And he played a great game against that star-studded Edina team in the Tourney last year and figures to take that momentum into this year. I have heard he also played very well in Elites in the off-season.

Marks is terrific, as is the younger No. 1A goalie there in Moorhead, Michael Bitzer (or is it Chance?)

Mounds goalie was solid that night. Many shots were right at him, but he made some pretty big saves. Virginia outshot Mounds 45-23. Virginia also hit the pipe/crossbar 3 or 4 times. Virginia had many missed scoring opportunities and dominated Mounds for the first 5 minutes of the game. Luck just was on Mounds side in this one.

I agree, I was very impressed with his play and composure during the tourney last year. Hopefully he can play some juniors and move on from their if he wants to.

Soderquist from Cambridge. He is an awesome goalie on a terrible team. They have always seemed to have good goalies lately. Andy benik of st francis deserves some recognition as well.

I managed to go to the benilde game this saturday and was very impressed with the goalie from Irondale. Bortot had 60 some saves over the red knights and kept his team in it till the third period when his team completely fell apart but all in all great athletic goaltender and very good with his speed and movement. Also on the other hand i think meyers did a solid job even though he saw eight shots.
