Want to explain to me how Shaughnessy wasn't a strength in tonights game? Anyone?
WB may not have generated that many opportunities, but when they did - they had no chance. Shaughnessys underrated, that's all I have to say.
And Carney... Not impressed. Noticed he was in the wrong place a lot, leaving his goalie out to dry. He will improve - he is only a freshman. Just, not living up to the hype.[/quote]
Sure, can you say 12 shots most of which hit him square in the middle. Of the four or so quality chances (not including #13 putting it in the gut) two hit pipes and one went thru crease and another missed a wide open net he may have had to "stop" one quality shot maybe two. The rest would have been stopped if my dog was standing there. He had nothing to stop. Now rewind to BSM game. Meyers faced about 40 shots and more quality shots than most goalies will see in five games. His team tied despite being outshot 2:1 and quality chances were 8:1. He kept his team in the game and gave them a chance despite being outplayed all night. Shaughnessy few decent shots and let two weak ones in, almost taking his team out of the game. Did it all last year too. Simply isn't a top notch goalie, not even average, just plays on a great team. WBL goalie would have a shutout too if he was on that team, but he probably would have won the BSM game by making one decent stop when necessary. PS BSM hit a couple pipes too. Need more? go watch Meyers and see a real good goalie.

White Bear vs. Hill Murray 12-15
Don't count WBL out for sections and HM shouldn't get overly confident too soon. There is still a lot of hockey left in the season. HM may have won this battle but the war will continue!
Schletty played just fine for the Bears I felt bad for the kid because his defense was just terrible, but WB's defense hasn't been any good for three or four years now. If not for some saves by him its 8-0. That being said his rebound control was pretty bad and he doesn't move well at all and was lucky that a few more didnt find there way into the back of the net. Sager needs to realize that he doesn't have this skill he once had and play more of a nuetral zone trap style of hockey and just hope Birki and Whalin can get somke breaks which they will and win games 2-1 or 3-2. They don't have the skill on defense to let them do anything but play defense not like the Zach Hansen and Taylor Johnson days where they could play some offensive defense and still get back in time. RJ is the best defensemen out there for WB. I don't care if he is small he actually tries to play the man and is the only D that can skate fast. All the other BIG D are clunkers and just get walked around or stand in front of the net screening Schletty doing absolutely nothing. And what was the WBL power play or lack of my god it was terrible they dumped the puck in the zone once I think and that was it on about three opportunities. WB's power play has been a joke for about 3 years, but I think its hit an all time low. If WB is going to win and close games this year that has to get A Lot better. And for all the Shaughnassey lovers bravo another 10 save shut out with WB's two good scoring opportunities and he got lucky two should have went in when he was completely beat. I don't think this kid has had 20 shots on him in a game yet im not saying he is not good, but doesnt compare to the states best.
Wait until Hill faces a team that can get past their defense and get lots of quality shots; then we will see how good Shaughnessy actually is, or if he just plays behind great defenders.Appleman wrote:Schletty played just fine for the Bears I felt bad for the kid because his defense was just terrible, but WB's defense hasn't been any good for three or four years now. Stuff like that happens in hockey.... Wouldn't blame it on defensemen or goaltender.hockeyfan893 wrote:Having attended that Simley vs Hill game, the goal that went on Dugas was a bank off of his own defensemen's skate, I wouldn't judge too harshly.12to14 wrote:When they do play that better team they may put in their "STELLAR" goalie Dugas who let in 1 out of 6 shots against Simley.
