I'd be very surprised if Century can put enough past Meyers to earn the win... but it would be great for Rochester as a whole if they pulled it off.

This is one of those kinda games that BSM has to be leary of....

Based on common opponents..... WBL beat Century 4-3, Hill-Murray beat WBL 5-0, Hill and BSM tied 2-2.... This game should be realtively easy for BSM, but Century has been playing a bit better since opening night.

BSM 5-1

This game being in Rochester and Rochester expecting 3-5 inches of snow overnight I give the game a slightly better than 50/50 shot of being postponned. They call off school very quickly and easily there.

Woah Sauce Daddy you are saying that Century will put 6 past Meyers? I mean Century has some good scorers, but seriously, 6 against Meyers and the BSM team as a whole? I think if they win it will be a low scoring game, more of a defensive battle

He might be guessing that this is a game Meyers sits the bench... he will be busy coming up with the Schwan's Cup...

Otherwise, if he is in Rochester making this prediction, I heard that there is a very good hospital in that area that he may want to voluntarily get an evaluation!!! His name is Saucedaddy, after all..... :-k

I haven't seen Century yet this season but hopefully will tommorrow and then next week in the Christmas tournament.

Both teams play some awfully poor conference teams which elevates scoring totals and the see-saw of opponents has to be tough on the kids; one day you're playing White Bear or Cretin and the next you have Austin or Irondale. It's a big game for Century because to be taken seriously they need to win one of these games, winning the Big Nine and even 1AA is great but no one thinks all that much of you unless you can post a couple of nice non conference wins. Aside from possibly Fargo South this will probably be Century's last game against a top quality AA team until March should they play that long. (Eastview, South, and Rosemount are a combined 3-11)

Stat wise both teams look pretty similar; 1 very good line, a good pair of defensemen and solid above average goaltending. I can't see Century getting 6 on any quality team nor do I see teams getting 6 on Century. I figure it will be a 1 or 2 goal game, probably by Benilde; I just don't like the fact Century has played 3 really weak teams in a row. Bad habits develop too easily and the huge jump in talent will be tough to overcome early on.

4-2 Benilde

One of the better games played in Rochester in the past few years. Both teams have outstanding goalies, BSM out shot Century by about a 3:2 ratio but both teams had ample scoring chances, the Kautz kid at Century has great positioning, a number of pucks he had no chance to see due to traffic hit him because he is in position. Meyer stopped Cory Kautz on 2 breakaways, thats no small feat. He controls nearly every shot. Benilde plays 4 freshman and they're very good. The difference in the game probably was Century's 2 young defensemen struggled more than Benilde's young players did. Both teams are so full of young talent, Century plays 3 seniors Benilde maybe 5 including Meyer.

Benilde with Meyer will be a tough team to knock out, too bad they're in the section they are. Century is pretty good, not a top team as they went 0-3 against WBL, Tartan, and BSM but a good 1AA team should they represent 1AA.

That sounds like a good showing for Century... I just saw it was 4-2 with an empty netter.

There isn'y anything in sports as good as the final minutes of play with a goalie pulled... Any close calls for Century before the empty netter??

I agree that Jacob Meyers is as solid as they get, and it shows Century was respected coming into the game in the fact that Meyers played.

With about 7 minutes left in the game and Benilde up 3-2 Century had a really good 2 minute flury where they probably got all the shots they had in the third period, Benilde got the puck down in the Century end and Century took a bad penalty on the half boards, Century's top line was out during the flury, so Century took a time out to rest those kids for the kill, the penalty expired with about 2:30 left but Century really only has one line with the talent to get a goal on a good team like Benilde and they were gassed as they'd been on the ice for nearly 5 straight minutes. Century never really mounted a good chance in the last couple of minutes, although the puck was in Benilde's end for a brief time including a face off with 27 seconds left.

Kind of funny that Cory Kautz wasn't in Russo's Elite League yet had a goal and an assisst and was probably the best skater on the ice. I don't know the situation and maybe Kautz ddn't want to be in the Elite League but it would have been a great story had he gotten a game winner on Russo - the same Russo who didn't think enough of Century's Alex Kangas to keep him in the Elite League.
