SSP Premier Tournament

Post by HappyHockeyFan »

Does anyone know what the field is for this tournament, or where I can go to find out? Game times would be nice as well. Thanks.

Yes very nice win for the pack. I was very surprised by the score though because north has played some good hockey teams very close this year. The pack had a good team effort led by austyn young, jesse poznikonovich, and matt pilot. Adam barlow was out due to a game suspension for slashing will be a big boost to get him back. I look forward to a good game between them and eagan.

Heard parents in the lobby talking about their Polars coach - 6:00am practice morning after christmas and he yelled at them telling them that they are the worst hockey players hes ever had. Polars will loose all the way through the last game if this is true. Not the first time I've heard of how bad their coaches are. Why do they put up with it?

eagan looked like a good team moved the puck well but it was really hard to judge how good they really are because they were playing an armstrong team that wasnt very strong. I really doubt adam wilcox will let in 5 goals against eagan. I look for a fast pace game with the score around 3 to 2 with the pack coming out on top.

North does have some good talent. I watched them play Mahtomedi and North controlled the game even though they lost. If the coach did have this early morning practice and degrade them, North's season is over. I've watched North over the years, and its not the lack of talent that keeps them from winning, it's a lack of discipline which starts with the coach.

I don't think that SSP is the best match-up they've seen this year is it? The NSP players I saw on Saturday didnt look like Varsity level skaters.

So you think that even though Eagan beat #3 ranked Jefferson on the Jags own ice but they cant beat class A SSP? I understand your a packer fan but seriously. I will give you 3 - 2 because Wilcox is a fantastic goalie but Eagan Wins.

yes i believe a team with a elite goalie like wilcox has an oppertunity to win every night out. I understand eagan beat jefferson and that is a very impressive win for them. But ssp also has some nice players of there own that can score and contribute austyn young 30 plus points last season jesse poznokonovich 30 plus points adam barlow a very good skating defenseman and Matt Pilot another good young defenseman who made the adavanced 15 team this past summer, so yes i do like how the packers match up against eagan and by no means am i taking anyhting away from eagan because if you can beat jefferson you know u have a good team I just think it will be a better and closer game than you think.

eagan looked really tough, controled alot of the play. They had alot of shots but i wouldnt say a ton of quality chances either way they put enough past wilcox to win the game. The game second goal scored by eagan sure looked like it hit the crossbar and saw it on a video recorder look like it hit the crossbar but it really took anything south st paul had left away after that eagan dominated the play of the game. good luck to them against hopkins should be a good one.

Wilcox was solid as usual, could have easily been 8 - 1, SSP played an energetic and aggressive game. I didnt think either Young or Jesse P. played their best games and Mike Pilot def didnt like the way Matt played. SSP will make some noise this year but very tough section come playoff time but who knows a really good and hot goaltender can carry a team a long way. Good Luck!

I've also been following North St. Paul Hockey program for many years now. I've had the opportunity to see many of these players play on Elite, Select, and AAA teams. They should be able to easily compete with Hill-Murray, Mahtomedi, and St. Thomas. North has many talented young men who are smart and know the game of hockey. What happens to these players when they reach the North High School Program? OR What do the coaches do to these players when they reach their program??? It seems to be more than lack of discipline from the coaches.[/quote]

That's pretty unusual for Wilcox to let in 9 goals over two games.

Wilcox was not in the game, Palmquist started.

According to followthepuck.com it was Palmquist, were you there? Or can you confirm that another way?

wilcox started played the entire game. Wilcox let in a bad first goal went down to early got beat over the shoulder on a bad angle shot either way nice shot by the hastings player. The other goals he let in were deflections rebounds etc.. Bottom line ssp just doesnt have enough depth they have 5 to 6 players that play the majority of the minutes for them and in tight games they just get wore down. I thought they battled back nicely to make it a closer game goals scored by 2 d man barlow and pilot with a game tying goal scored by kohlman to make it 3 to 3 hastings scored a couple minutes later and ssp just ran out of gas at the end. They need to develop the 3rd and 4th line players more lack of depth really is hurting them and you cant always rely of wilcox to bail them out.
