Unless your being sarcastic? Typical Edina, you know your program is on the way down so you have to tear down the ones on the way up.
I agree, I was impressed with E.R. I thought they played very well for a team with little experience. They will win some more games and could be trouble come section time. (4A I think)Edwardo wrote:Unless your being sarcastic? # 7 great game (Freshman has been playing better every game, sees the ice better than all the defense)
# 22 good game (Small Sophomore been consistent all year)
# 31 Goalie (Sophomore Good game kinda a soft second goal)
I think the biggest disappointments are the Senior Defense, that consistently make more mental errors than all others combined, which is to bad because they have the talent, it appears that there head is not in the game.
Goldfish Dude, were are you coming from? It was a well played game - East Ridge gave it there all in the first and skated with WBL stride for stride - but just got out muscled and out talented -WBL played very consistent, pretty much through out the game. But I would think East Ridge will be pretty good down the road considering they don't have 1 senior on the team and they had plenty of scoring chances.
I was talking about East Ridge--regarding the smarmy comment made by the Edina fan about them being "awful". I think it's just typical Edina to rip on kids who are Sophomores and Juniors who have very little experience and doing their best to represent their school.Edwardo wrote:Unless your being sarcastic? Thanks WB......I agree that these ER kids will be good soon and considering NONE of them have Varsity experience and some don't even have JV experience, they're doing well. I have to give WBL credit for one thing......regardless of how the team is doing, they have about as loyal a fan base as you could get. Sometimes annoyingly so, but still loyalWB6162 wrote:I was talking about East Ridge--regarding the smarmy comment made by the Edina fan about them being "awful". I mean, ER will be smoking Edina's old, has been program within 5 years so I guess they have to get their shots in now.
Eddie, buddy?? I am not sure I understand what you are talking about!! I never downplayed East Ridge's effort, nor downplayed/praised WBL for it's EFFORT!! 38 shots on goal.Edwardo wrote:Unless your being sarcastic? Did you not look at my game summary comment? Didn't you read my opening statement? Shots were 11-9 first and 9-9 third!!! AND, according to scoresheet, I said East Ridge made it 3-2 (someone said it was 5-1) I said "it looks like East Ridge gave WBL all it could handle"..
East Ridge is a first-year program. NO seniors. WBL has three players who played Elite I league. East Ridge also has a sophomore goalie in McDonough. On paper, WBL should have treated this game no different than when they whooped up on Hastings and Cloquet. And they didn't, as to why I said the score was a little disappointing for WBL -
So, when I say the score was disappointing for WBL, and that when I said a "win is a win", I think it's pretty safe to understand that I am saying East Ridge played pretty well. It doesn't matter if it's 7-0, or 2-1.. WBL won the game, and as a WBL fan, that is important. I would have liked to have seen a stat-buster game.
I thought WBL would win handily, as did others. Some predicted a closer score, so if I predicted a lopsided win, I think it's kinda safe to understand where I might be disappointed.
WBL beat Hastings 7-1.... Hastings beat East Ridge 4-1. So, I think one can figure out why I thought WBL would treat Ridge as a cupcake.
Eddie... I could rant on with my opinion, But I won't. However, I will be the VOICE for those of the many biased and informed players, parents and other youth coaches, but I won't do a long dissertation.Edwardo wrote:Goldie,Goldfishdude wrote:Eddie, buddy?? My bad, you got the wrong info with the initial score. And I was not insinuating that you said anything about downplaying ER efforts. I was simply stating that I was impressed with them considering there a young team, with no seniors. I also initially thought that WB6162 was talking about WBL's boys not playing JV. And as far as the senior defense go, I believe they have the talent to play better than they are playing, maybe it's frustration I am not sure, but to go anywhere, they have to step up. Maybe I have to read previous post's more carefully before I spout off.
I believe the your first paragraph is fair enough, I don't know what is being taught or dispersed as responsibility. And I agree with the size, however #7 does not seem to have a problem over coming his size with his strength, # 22 appears to be crafty enough to slither through the battles, protecting the net is a bit of a concern. But the desire in both young athletes will only make them better and for being as young and as small as they are they are impressive to watch.Goldfishdude wrote:Eddie... All I WILL say is that those two senior defensemen, and your thoughts about them, are shared by many. BUT NOT AT THE FAULT OF THEIR OWN!!!
I am just being the messenger here.. so don't shoot me. But the difference, for lack of a better word, is not that these guys aren't performing the way many feel they should be, but it's moreso that those guys aren't being put in the position to have better success.
It is believed by many that they have free reign on the ice - almost like - just go out and play, and that means they are not playing much under control or discipline and without accountability. They also have the arduous task of being asked to develop two young, skilled, yet very undersized varsity defensemen in Carney and Majkozak. What I am being told is that for every 1 quality play, there are 2 or 3 not-so-quality plays. These same people feel that these guys should be 3 quality plays per 1 not-so-quality plays... and again.. not at the fault of their own.
It is the belief by many that the two youngsters need to be brought along more slowly, and that others should get a little more playing time, and the undersized prodigies struggle in certain matchups.
