Section seeding in the state Tourney
With the section seeding that has been done in the few prevoius state tournaments, what are the opinions of the forum users. I would like to see a random draw done to pair the teams. I think it is up to the MSHSL to create section parity and section one through 8 should not be given any sort of attempted first game ride. the first few years that it was created, there were a lot of so called upsets. what are your thoughts?

Re: Section seeding in the state Tourney
I like the seeding with the bottom 4 teams getting a random draw. Sometimes the first round games are not as exciting but it also keeps the semi's and Championship games from being blowouts most of the time. Its the best chance scenario for the #1 seed and #2 seed to meet in the Championship as it should be.eastside hockey wrote:With the section seeding that has been done in the few prevoius state tournaments, what are the opinions of the forum users. state seeding
It's a good start. I would like to see the day when the MSHSL can come up with a plan that seeds the entire state for regions, with some provision for geography, to minimize travel.

Does anyone really know who #1 or #2 is????? Probably not. You can probably figure out who the 4 best teams are though. Do you suppose that is why the top 4 teams draw their opponents??? I think so. Looking at it this way, it really seems stupid that they actually put #1, #2, #3, #4 on the seeded teams. By having them draw their opponents, they are telling me that actually these are the 4 best teams, not that #1 is actually #1, and #2 actually #2 etc... The whole idea was to make sure that two lower teams didn't play in the first round against eachother and make for an even worse semi-final and 3rd place game, I think they pretty much did that.
