Championship results from the Edina BB1's Tourney..
Wayzata Blue 4
EP 1
Very lackluster game for both teams in the 1st period, I am assuming since it was the 2nd game of the day. Wayzata out-shot and out hustled EP in the 2nd and 3rd periods to bring home the trophy.
3rd Place:
Edina Green 2
Edina White 1

Wayzata Navy 1
Tartan 0
Tartan outplayed and outshot badly. Tartan has a small, but very good goalie. He kept them in the game or it could have been bad.
Wayzata Navy 6
STMA 0
Wayzta Navy 2
Hastings 1

Elk River BB1 tourney this last weekend:
Championship game was:
Elk River 3
EP 1 - Good game. It was 2-1 in the 3rd and ER pulled it out..
Quite a few other scores, but I didn't hear the outcomes outside of the EP team..
EP 4 WBL 0
EP 4 Blaine 3 - EP was up 4-0 with 4 minutes to go - Blaine scored 3 goals in 1:20 seconds to almost pull out the upset.. Crazy finish from what I heard.

These rankings are a JOKE! The top ten maybe legit, but 11-20 you got to be kidding me! OMGHA Orange is far better team than Crimson. Wayzata Gold went to two B2, yes B2, tournaments and beat up on everyone and get ranked in the top 20...WOW. The only tourney (B1) they played in with legit teams was Duluth and they finished only winning one or two games and went home with no hardware. Within their own association Gold got beat down by Wayzata Navy 6-1.headsup wrote:January 7th 2010

Jefferson and Tartan just got beat also by Wayzata Navy (unranked). I also heard Wayzata Navy went up to Sauk Rapids (#6) and lost 2-1 with Sauk getting outshot and scoring the winning goal in the last 2 minutes
Must be alot of homers calling in rankings and scores.

You must be a Wayzata Parent - You failed to mention that Tartan lost to Wayzata in Double Overtime. The Tartan goalie (who is only a PeeWee) stopped over 40 shots. Tartan went on to win consolation letting in 2 goals the entire tournament. If the outcome was different Wayzata would have walked away with Consolation and Tartan the Championship.High Off The Glass wrote:These rankings are a JOKE! I also failed to mention that the Consolation side of the Brackets were filled with B2, not B1, teams. Facts are facts, Tartan was outplayed and if it wasn't for a hot goalie, would have lost by a whole lot more. Tartan is not a top 20 hockey team.12to14 wrote:You must be a Wayzata Parent - You failed to mention that Tartan lost to Wayzata in Double Overtime. I've seen both teams play numerous times. I know on paper Crimson is suppossed to be the better team (kids 16-31 at try-outs), but Orange seems to be better coached team that is playing better overall.HockeyGuy81 wrote:So Orange beat Crimson on 12/17 but then got beat on 1/6/10. How are they the better team "right now?"
GP = (games played) and FPP = (fair play points)... call it whatever you want:

OMG Orange belongs in the top 15 more than Wayzata Gold. In a season where there's no clear #1, all of the top 15 teams have (or will) drop a game to each other.
I wouldn't bet on the outcome for any of these games... very different teams that depend on little factors in the game (ie penalties). Crimson is a physical team that didn't fair well with D6 refs... but they avenged previous losses outside of D6.
Doesn't mean I would rank Crimson #1, but they've beaten everyone above them. I've said it before... Edina Green deserves the #1 spot and will only get better.
State is very much up for grabs... so do the LPH rankings matter? Nope... just conversation.

There's no such thing as "16-31" when you have an "optional" A tryout and B1 extendeds. I would bet the individual tryout scores for both teams are very similar.
Regardless of what any association "sells", these teams are very compatible head to head. It's the results against other ranked teams that measures their current (LPH) ranking and end result that illustrates coaching quality.
Again... who cares?

Farmington has done pretty good this year. They won the Hudson tournament. they won 12-0 over Eau Claire, 4-0 over north st. paul, and won 2-1 over Forest Lake. They have also tied rochester red. they just went up to cloquet, had a bad game to start against centennial and lost 4-1 then won there last 3 over Duluth East, New Prauge, and Dodge county to win the silver bracket championship.(5th of 12teams)
