Warroad should win in running time. The top line for Warroad is just too strong. It's like having three TJ Oshies on the same line.

If the game was all about offense I would take Warroad. However, theur goalie and defense still makes me uneasy. That being said, I can't choose Roseau against my hometown so I'll say Warroad 4-2 with an empty netter.

If you were playing in Warroad no doubt it would be in running time because the players parents would be reffing but its in Roseau so I'll take the Rams 5-2.

Rams will get the Warriors at home 3-2. The rematch will be a different story, literally.

I wouldn't go that far, but it is a pretty dynamic combination. The one comparison you could make with Oshie would obviously be Nelson, but despite the fact that Hebel and Stoskopf are very good players, they don't quite compare to those two. As for the AA vs A debate, it is getting a little sickening having to hear this comparison in every thread on here, check the enrollment, Warroad is where they belong, not to mention their youth system is pretty sparse by the looks of some scores around District 16 lately.

 If those two tiny little schools combined they would probably win the class AA title every year...... And the 94 circle people would still find something to whine about.

I do think Roseau is good this year, and it is in Roseau, still not good enough to beat Warroad. Not this year.

Funny, Roseau doesn't seem to have many problems playing AA.

The youth hockey #'s have never mattered up there with regards to HS hockey success.

Roseau has more depth and will win as a result.

Post by RoseauHockeyFan »

I think Roseau and Warroad both have powerful and high scoring first lines. Roseau's first line has combined to score 44 goals and Warroad's has combined to score 40 goals. These two lines will probably wage a pretty equal battle.

The game will probably be won on the fight between the other forward lines and defensemen. Roseau has gotten a total of 39 goals from players other than the three starting forwards. Warroad has gotten only 17 goals from players outside of their star first line. Roseau demonstrates a lot more depth for sure.

In other words, the first lines will cancel each other out, and Roseau's 2nd and 3rd lines will outscore Warroad by 2 goals leading to a Roseau 4-2 victory.

Yes, Yes we have heard it all, props to them for jumping and having success, but not all schools are going to follow suit. Warroad's enrollment is 386 and Roseau is 410, but if you want to get into the whole A vs AA thing we can throw numerous teams out there that should be ridiculed before Warroad. St Thomas (1086), Mahtomedi (1109), Totino-Grace (1009), and South St. Paul (905) to name a few are all over double the size of these schools yet continually see success in single A yet no criticism. I actually don't mind seeing Roseau win at the AA level and I would love to see the day where the northern rivalry took home both crowns in a single season. As far as the youth hockey goes, if you are referring to Warroad's "recruiting", you might as well stop right there because I am sure I am not the only one that doesn't want to see this thread closed. Back on topic, it should be a well fought game between two tough squads, I like the perspective about the top lines cancelling each other out, but I am going to go with my instinct and say Warroad will steal one on the road, 4-3 in a barn burning overtime session.

I would love to go with Warroad for sake of this thread. I am however going with the good old Rams in their good old Arena, in front of the good ol boys.

Roseau 6
Warroad 2
