It doesn't seem like Rapids can compete 5 on 5..
Great response by the Hounds; as long as they can stay out of the box in the 3rd I like their chances. They just need to keep pounding away.

I loved the PP goal...I know some people don't like tons of passing around the perimeter without any shots, but it worked perfectly for Welinski and Randolph there.
Welinski looked like he had three open lanes and kept pushing it back to Randolph. I was a little surprised there was little movement to do any backdoor action, but, it had to be a heckuva shot by Welinski to go untipped and to beat Foss, who looks like a pretty solid goalie.. He had no chance on the third goal as that pass to the slot was perfection.
Definitely...I think Welinski and Randolph might've lulled the Rapids defense to sleep there.

This team seems to be at its best when they get the defensemen involved in the scoring. Welinski, Paulseth, and Olson all have great shots from the blue line.

Wow. Nice pressure for Rapids with the goalie pulled for the extra attacker.

2.8 seconds to go, faceoff in the Rapids zone.

And it's over, East wins 5-4.

Good win for East from a section seeding standpoint.

Thank you Perlinger for those 2 huge saves at the end of the game.

Quite the barnburner. East did a great job on the forecheck most of the 3rd, but there were a few moments of doubt in the last minute; Perlinger came up big at the end.

Though the Hounds controlled play most of the game, Rapids proved they're not to be taken lightly. It's shaping up to be a great race in 7AA.

One big section game down, with another coming up...Elk River next Tuesday.

Lee,

Unofficially, I had the puck inside the East blue line just about 3:30 minutes the third period, with about :35 seconds with the extra attacker. The forecheck and backcheck was extremely effective in both the 2nd and 3rd period. At the time Rapids scored the goal to make it 4-4, the puck hadn't even been in the East zone 1 minute.

Had to have been another hard loss for the thunderhawks with 5-4 loss to hermantown and now 5-4 loss to Duluth East, proves they will be a strong playoff competitor though.
