Interesting results in Bloomington ... Gives more fuel to the fire that that no team in dominant this year.

Wayzata the only undefeated team coming in doesn't get out of their pool (the toughest pool in the tourney). Lakeville South who lost two really tight games in Edina take that pool that included Prior Lake and Rosemount all who have been mentioned here.

Rochester who weren't able to win their own tourney last week and have several loses take a pool that has Jefferson and Edina.

OMG and EP have weaker pools and take them as expected

Lakeville South looked very good in Edina even though they didn't get out of their pool, my guess is they get a little revenge and win this one today (gotta stick neck out sometimes!)

Any word from Moorhead? How are the Elks, Tonka and Centennial doing against the Fire?

Also happening this weekend Stillwater loses to Roseville while reportedly outshooting them by over 20 shots. Typical for this team. Give Roseville credit, they have been beaten badly twice this year by Stillwater but come out and win this one.

What does all this mean? Not much because they are squirts and should be learning in every game and teams will have wild swings from beginning to the end of the year!

Tournament winners this year - Elk River (edina), Stillwater (brooklyn park, rochester), Wayzata (NSP), Minnetonka (EP), Mounds View (superrink), Waconia (duluth), STMA (hopkins).... and I am sure there have been others I am forgetting or don't know about! Most of the teams people say are the best have all lost to each other and have 2 to 4 loses each ... Fargo is WIDE OPEN.

I have heard some say squirts are down this year and I would disagree, after watching a large number of these teams play this year I would say more teams are good than in the past, talent is spread pretty evenly...pairity that the professional sports world would love to have!

squirt a's

YO - GFdad:

Did you see the Squirt A team that had The Edina Fab 5? I belive they lost only 3 games all season:

- Wisconsin Fire led by Jordan George and his 150+ goals
- Jefferson
- First game of International Silver Stick - when MN teams were still allowed to play. They came back to win this event.

IMO, they were the best Squirt A team (Budish, Lee, Baker, Reagan, Gaarder, Ankeny and co)

Nothing on the website. If that was the order then sounds like bracket tournament and perhaps the brackets were not quite equitable or evenly matched one side vs. other?

Information from my Rogers connection

STMA over St. Cloud
Rogers over Mankato

Blaine over NSP
Cambridge over Owantona

SEMI STMA over Rogers Cambridge over Blaine

Champs STMA

3rd Rogers

CON St. Cloud

He said the Rogers and STMA kids spent more time on the lake skating then in the actual games. Up to 11:00pm on Sat night. Sounds like it was a fun tournament for the kids.

Congrats Lakeville South on winning Bloomington Tourney. Who did Lakeville South beat in Championship game and by what score?
Also congrats STMA for Breezy and for Elk River taking 2nd place in Moorhead.

Besides Fargo, are there any additional significant Squirt A tournements coming up?

LS beat Rochester 5-4 in Semis and EP 4-1 in final

Jeff beat Wayzata 3-2 in Consolation championship.

With the exception of STMA and Lakeville South pretty much everyone lost or tied someone in the past week (elk river tied Anoka prior to heading up to Moorhead)

Rochester looks like they had a nice showing in Bloomington after losing in their Championship the week before to Stillwater

Good teams that have received some discussion as top teams yet to win a tourney include EP, Jefferson, and Centennial (who lost two games to good teams this weekend).

There were some games listed earlier in this thread. STMA lost twice and I believe OMG ...can't remember who else.

The only Northern team info you can find seems to be Hamantown, they look OK (at least their record looks pretty good). They did tie Waconia (who has been mentioned as a good team several times here), they also tied Cloquet once and beat them once, they tied Roseau and beat GR twice.

Cloquet was in Brooklyn Park early in the year and lost several close games.

Roseau was in EP and didn't fare very well.

Grand Rapids played Hermantown. Hermantown looks like a very solid Squirt team.

This game is scheduled for inside, but if the weather is bad, the High School games will move inside instead. Let's hope that doesn't happen!

Is this playoffs end of year tourny ? Just curious how it seeding/pairings works since its still Jan with many games left to be played. Do they not seed them ?

It is my understanding that squirts are not seeded at all....even though they do keep score the district games mean nothing at the end of the year! It is very counterintuitive to most of us but that is the way it is.

I know in recent years in squirts many of the best teams play each other in the first round sometimes all the teams from one association will all be in the same side of the bracket at the B level...this really makes no sense but it is the way it is.
