Is it good hockey, and what kinds of players play on these teams?

I agree! At the Division I level, it's very good hockey.
Some program you will have to pay to play, but not restricted to the number of games like the NCAA.
Check it out for yourself. Go to www.fasthockey.com and you can order a game via internet for $6.00

You guys are totally correct about this matter. It is a great alternative as well. In fact, I think that it is worth going for if you are at that level, most of the players will get a different offers comparing to this. I think there will be several stars in the future rising from the clubs as well. that is depending on the player whether they wanted it to take it onto the next level or not.

Club Hockey

Club hockey is not bad hockey. I play for the University of Minnesota - Crookston campus club team. We are considered club division 2. There are 3 levels in club. We play games against other ACHA club teams or local teams such as MSU Bottineau which is the JR college champ. Our school was NCAA division 2 up until last year. Our program was cut so we joined the ACHA. We will play about 25-30 games a year and our ice time is free for the next 4 years. This is because our school prior to cutting the NCAA signed a 5 year contract with the city for the new arena. The arena is brand new as of Feb 2010 and our school has paid for ice through Spring 2014. Our costs look to be $300 per player this season and we are still in search of a coach. I would compare our level of play somewhere near a Minnesota Jr team to high school teams. We probably have the cheapest player fees anywhere out there. We only have 7 returning forwards, 6 D, and 2 goalies. So if anyone is out there not sure about their future our school offers cheap hockey and you would be working on a degree from the U of M. The degree when you graduate reads University of Minnesota. No distinction is made that it was Crookston campus. The school itself is I believe about 6,000 per year cheaper than the Twin Cities campus.
We have players that played juniors in the Minnesota League some others that played is Junior leagues in California and a player from Czech Republic who was on their U17 national team and played USHL/NAHL
