Centennials the team to beat!

Post by Papasmurf080 »

Centennial has proven that they can compete with the best after beating Edina and EP in one day. They may have a few problems with penalty minutes ( #7, #2 ) but they are definetly one of the best teams in the state!

I would argue that Wayzata is the team to beat. Not to take anything away from Centennial, but i think Wayzata is a better team right now.

Congratulations to Centenial on a nice tournament victory. The Centennial kids have always been great competitors.

jga5lyfe, are you a Centennial player or just some idiot trying to stir things up? I have to believe that your just and idiot by your comments. People who have been around know talk is cheap in this league. I look at Centennials league record and I see they only have one win (over Andover) in the month of January. I also see that your next two league opponets are Edina and Tonka. Give us an update with how great you are after the Tonka game.

There are a lot of kids that lack the talent to be good hockey players so they play dirty. Are you really impressed by that?

First of all hipchx Centennial has only had four league games so far in january and two of them were against top teams in the state. Wayzata is definetly good but they way Centennial has been playing im sure it will be a much better match up the next time they meet. Sure some of thier players are dirty but thats just part of the game. Especially when were talking about JGA. This league has always had fighting and penalty issues.

The Edina and Tonka matchups should be great ones, ill be attending both of them, rooting on you know who!

Maybe in your redneck world is "dirty" part of the game...no where else. Any player that attempts to injure another player should be banned from Minnesota Hockey.

So who is good? It's safe to say you play for Edina. Better start playing better if you want to talk. You'll never be as good as last years Edina team anyways

Less then two weeks ago Centennial got punished by Wayzata 6-2, but this is the team to beat? Hmm, if anyone is playing really good second half hockey it's White bear. Centennial is actually playing worse this half of the season. Just stating a few facts.
When Hell freezes over, I'll play hockey there too.

Never said we would be as good as lasts years team, as a matter of fact we wont be as good as last years team, but if everyone comes together and plays more as a team, we sure as hell can get pretty close.

Obviously hipchx hasnt seen a JGA game in awhile, some kind of cheapshot is thrown in just about every game. As for the trojans they are probably the best team in state, every other team is pretty mediocre. I think Centennial lacks the motivation during league play but in tournaments they actually have something to play for. So come playoff time they should be in good shape. Edina is overrated, and any team could be good if they all "came together and played as a team" Thants not just thier problem.

Im saying they play better in a tournament atmosphere. And they are at least a good enough team to make the playoffs. Playoffs=Tournament ,
Tournament=Play better

First, let me restate what I said earlier, THE CENTENNIAL KIDS ARE GREAT COMPETITORS. Games against Centinnial are always great battles and the Wayzata kids love competing against you. We always know it is going to be a battle.

I have no idea who Papasmurt or jga4lyfe are; however, I do know what they are telling you is all wrong. Your team right now only is awarded a FPP in 55% of your games...one of the worst records in the league. When you stop to consider that FPPs represent 33% of your overall standing score you will see you are squandering valuable points. The goal of league play is to (1) win the league championship, or (2) get one of the top three seeds in Regionals which will assure you a nice spot in the State finals. Keep wasting points and the road to State become twice as hard.

Are you aware that you have only received 67% of the points available to you in league? In 11 games you could have earned a possible 33 points...11 wins and 11 FP points.

Your serious competitors average getting a FPP in 90% of their games. That means, if you continue playing at your current level, you have to win an additional 5 games in your remainding 14 just to stay even with the front runners.

Play hard - not diry.

hipchx i commend you for your hard work on researching teams and calculating all the statistics, but might i remind you that this is only JGA and i cant believe anyone would take it this far.... For that reason i will not argue any more of my points

You have no points. Centennial is plain out dirty. They take a cheap shot on another teams players at least once a game. I believe you have also had at least one player ejected from every game so fat this year.

As the self-appointed guru (sorry hockeyguru#6) of JGA, i keep a running total of points earned vs. potential points. The standings thru yesterday with season projections are:

Team Pts FPP's GP W L T Pts/Game Projected Points
Edina 27 8 10 9 0 1 2.70 64
Wayzata 29 10 11 8 0 3 2.64 63
Burnsville 31 11 13 9 2 2 2.38 57
Minnetonka 27 10 12 8 3 1 2.25 54
Centennial 22 6 11 6 1 4 2.00 48
Blaine 20 9 10 4 3 3 2.00 48
Eden Prairie 14 7 7 3 3 1 2.00 48
St. Louis Park 20 9 11 5 5 1 1.82 43
Eagan 20 9 11 5 5 1 1.82 43
Wessy's Boys 18 9 10 4 5 1 1.80 43
Lakeville 24 13 14 4 7 3 1.71 41
White Bear Lake 14 7 9 2 4 3 1.56 37
Stillwater 20 8 13 5 6 2 1.54 36
Champlin Park 24 10 16 7 9 0 1.50 36
Elk River 10 5 8 2 5 1 1.25 30
Mounds View 12 9 10 1 8 1 1.20 28
Osseo/Maple Grove 13 5 11 3 6 2 1.18 28
Andover 10 10 13 0 13 0 0.77 18

In my example above:

Edina has 27 points in 10 games (2.7 pts/gm). They are 9-0-1 with 2 FPP's lost. At their current pace they will hit 64 total points.

Centennial is projected to be in a 3-way for 5th with 48 points. One of the tie breaker's is head to head with most points earned between teams, including FPP's.

The team that is really hurting in Champlin Park. They are sitting in 14th place (based on points per game earned). The top 15 make playoffs. Seeds 10-15 play a single elimination game to qualify for the double elimination portion of regions.

I guess that is something to be proud of not being able to play hockey but taking cheap shots. I guess if the goal of hockey is to injury other kids on other teams on purpose Centennial would be number 1. Maybe your coach should control the dirty players and let the real hockey players play the game. If your coach thinks this is good hockey the association needs to take a look at the coach. I for one know that your excuse of this is JG hockey is a load of crap. The whole of JG is not like your team. It can be good hockey and the Metro hockey league is trying to make it that way. They are talking about taking teams to nationals that win state if you think that is how teams that go to nationals play hockey your in for a real treat. Get a clue papasmurf and learn how to play hockey the right way and stop disrespecting the game because you cant play it and think cheap shots are part of the game.

Numbercruncher Guy (Plasma),

Are you an actuary? If not, you should think about sitting for some of the exams. (Disclaimer) Past peformance is not always a good indicator of future performance. Plus it does make a difference on who teams have and haven't played, i.e. strength of schedule, as teams don't play the same schedules, every team does not play all the others twice.

But thanks for the information, as it does let teams know where they stand. At least obtain the FPP in remaining games. It will make a difference in the end.

Comeback with an update after the weekend to see if anything has changed.

Let's play some hockey......

Thanks for the hard work and input. I wonder what effect Burnsville lossing one of their top kids will have the remainder of the season. Will they be able to continue maintain an average of 2.38 pts. per game? It may be just nothing, like the one Burnsville kid said the ousted player was a real cancer and they just might be playing better hockey (scary).
