Is the Suburban East Conference a joke?

Post by GoolieMan »

I dont know how everybody else is feeling about this, but i think the SEC is in trouble.
I guess i'm just looking for all of your opinions here, but teams are getting beat;
13-1(Stillwater over East Ridge)
8-2 (Stillwater over Hastings)
7-1 (WBL over Hastings)
7-1 (WB over WBL)
6-2 (CDH over East Ridge)
8-1 (Forest Lake over East Ridge) and many more Blow outs.
Really what I'm saying is, why is the SEC so lop sided this year with so many teams getting buried?

When stillwater beat ER 13-1 ER had a few kids suspended including their starting goalie

When WB beat WBL it was just after 10 of the varsity skaters were suspended

And then FL beat ER because they were just super pissed that this upstart program beat them to take 3rd place in FL's holiday tournament so they took it out on them that night.

ER is a new program so that explains the multiple thrashings against them. IMO the suburban east is in a somewhat down year with realistically and logically only three teams that could go on to the state tournament. (Woodbury, CDH, and WBL) However i do see a possibility of one or two that i don't consider my top three teams getting hot around section time and making a run. Ex. Stillwater last year.

First, East Ridge does not have seniors, it is their first year in existance, and they have had a few kids suspended for a couple of games. For White Bear, they had 10 kids suspended for the Woodbury game. So that explains most of the games. I think the biggest reason for some of the gap is goal tending. Forest Lake had Moberg that kept them in a lot of games last year. Hastings had Gleinser. I think the goalie corp over the whole league is down a little which becomes apparent when games start to get out of hand. Overall the conference might be down a little from top to bottom.

GoolieMan ya moron. You list two teams that have gotten beat bad on several occasions, East Ridge and Forest Lake. East Ridge is a new school with no Sr's, what do you expect. Take a look at the conference with the glory school HM. Look at those scores and who they play on a typical night. White Bear also lost a bunch of dim-wits for off ice problems. So what's your point?

85% of the list was games against brand new, senior-less, single A East Ridge.

How very observant of you.

WBL made it to Semi's, and I think Stillwater did have an advantage last year because Johnson upset #1 seeded Tartan.
Stilly had to get by Roseville and SPJohnson, which wasn't to much of a challenge.

But they did take HM to OT, correct?

Okay cool, I was having a hard time remembering. I doubted SW at first in sections because of their easier first two games (Although Roseville wasn't at all bad). When I saw the HM game my opinion changed, would have been great to see a SEC team at the state tourney.

I agree. That's why we need your bears or youngies ponies to win 4AA and we need either Woodbury or CDH to win 3AA. A VERY lofty goal but hey i can dream can't i?

Cretin did make it to state last year and performed very well. Stillwater made a run at section title too. This conference is nowhere near a joke and I wouldn't be suprised to see woodbury or cretin in state. Stillwater could sneak up in their section and contend for the title as well. I believe this SEC teams are as good as anyone when they come to play.

Not a joke with a couple teams more than capable of making some noise come section time, but definitely not as good as was anticipated.
