7AA

Post by TheHockeyDJ »

Seedings at this point:
1. Elk River
2. Duluth East
3. Andover
4. Grand Rapids
5. Forest Lake
6. St. Francis
7. Cloquet
8. Cambridge
9. Princeton

This would likely mean Semi-Final Saturday at the DECC:
12:00 Elk River (white) vs. Grand Rapids (orange)
2:30 Duluth East (white) vs. Andover (black)
7:00 Gophers go for the sweep vs. UMD

Looks about right; I might put Cambridge ahead of Cloquet since they beat them head-to-head. But that didn't stop Cloquet from getting a higher seeding last year.

If East beats Andover, they should lock up the #2; they may then have a claim on #1 if Andover upsets ER.

If ER beats Andover, they are #1 period. If Andover wins both games, they're #1, and ER is probably 2.

With no one getting any real convincing wins, this section could still go in many different directions.

Looking through the scores, how is Grand Rapids ahead of Forest Lake? Forest Lake Beat GR. Head to Head is the Best indicator.

1) Elk River
2) Duluth East
3) Andover
4) Forest Lake
5) Grand Rapids

The Rest...

That game was long ago and Forest Lake lost to EAST RIDGE! EAST RIDGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Forest Lake also got routed by Andover. No worries, Forest Lake will drop to 6 or 7 when they get beat by Cloquet too.

Rapidsrapids, I do see they lost to east ridge, they also beat east ridge big. I have just heard they look at head to head more favorably then who lost to who. So Far Grand Rapids has a not so hot record. I think Forest Lake has only 3 losses on the year (according to hockeyhub) Cloquet I know nothing about, looks like GR beat them Twice. I know Cloquet struggled last year. I think top three spots are pretty much locked up in 7AA. will probably be a battle between GR and FL all year as to who gets # 4 and 5.. either way I believe 4 plays 5 first round anyway. ??

To be totally honest with you, I kinda hope GR is on the road that game. I just think overall GR has been consistently a better team. The have a lot of one goal losses to very very good teams, and the only game they got beat bad was 4-0 to Edina. Not too shabby. Lots of games left anyways. I'm just glad someone other than Duluth East will be the top seed this year and that 7AA will be more competitive than it was last season.

My take on sections:

1. Elk River
2. Andover
3. Duluth East
4. Grand Rapids
5. Forest Lake

The rest it really won't matter. Andover beats East in their upcoming game. This is the way I seeded them earlier this year and stand by my prediction.

east over denfld 3-1, Blaine over Andover 4-2, Elk over Champlain 3-2, Forest Lake over Park 5-0 and no game for Grand Rapids, Does this change anything, looks like this could be go down to the wire...

As of right now......
1- Elk River
2- East
3- Andover
4- Forest Lake
5- Rapids
6- St. Francis
7- Cambridge
8- CEC
9- Princeton

I can see Rapids moving up to the 4 seed based on strength of schedule and quality wins. I could also Cloquet moving past CI and St. Francis if CEC picks up some nice wins down the stretch.

Bottom line, I see Rapids and East in the Finals

It will be very tough for Grand Rapids to be host a Home game first round of sections. Their current record is 7 wins, 10 losses, and 1 tie. Only 7 games remaining. at best I see them ending up 11 / 13 / 1. That means winning 4 out of there last 7. Max could be winning 5 of 7 which still gives them more losses then wins. I like Rapids and would like to see them host a game, but i must be realistic as well. I see them with a high rank of 5 and possibly 6 pending how they finish out.

I don't see anything that makes me think DE vs. Forest Lake will be close, and I don't see FL as a factor in sections despite their record- just not sure they have enough experience against stronger teams. Of course, a hot goalie in sections...you never know...remember last year?

May get interesting if Andover beats ER and/or DE. They might get ER because of the conference rivalry, but I doubt they beat DE in Duluth. No mattter how it ends, I think ER and DE are a notch above the rest of the section. They will need to prove it at sections.

No one in this section really has a good win against a top team- I think it might be a bit more competitive than some years, but at the state level this section is a notch down in both top team(s) and depth of teams

I would not want to play Rapids in sections- regardless of where they are seeded, I think they might be the one team that is better than their record.

I'm hoping CEC drops because I would love to see CEC and DE play first round- almost always a good game, and with CEC in a position as the true spoiler I am sure DE would get more than they have seen from them in the last few meetings!

If the section finals are at the DECC, I see East on top in March.

F.L. by one in low scoring game.[thats my heart talking] My brain says East. Should be one of the best games the Rangers have been a part of lately. The sophs on F.L. don't know they are underdogs. My oldest is a soph and we had a very good bantam A season last year.

DE locks up a top 3 seed with a 2-1 win over Flake.

Not the prettiest effort by the Hounds; sure, they controlled play pretty well and killed off 4 PPs with relative ease in the 3rd, but they'll need more than this to beat Andover on Friday. But for now, it'll do.

I still think it's gonna be Grand Rapids vs. Duluth East in the section final.

Andover will have a hard time if they get to the semifinal game. The more experience of Duluth and Elk River and Grand Rapids make them the favorite. Them 3 coaches know what it takes, Andover is a rookie and will fold quickly. Sorry huskies

I'm pulling for a northern metro team, so that with the exception of Sect 8, the Tourney is made up of metro teams. It appears the outstate teams are down this year.

Might as well pull for Buffalo or Monticello, also.

I gotta have a little reality in Section 8....Rams or Spuds will represent the north.
