Marshall is a laughing stock right now. I'm thinking that Redwood is going to run all over you. They have two solid, solid forwards in Hanson and Miller. I think you play New Ulm soon and the way they're playing lately they are going to be tough to beat. So you better start figuring stuff out because if you cant beat teams in your conference have fun trying to win the section.
By the way we need some Hutch updates!l

3A:
1 - Hutch - solid team, great schedule, solid consistent lines, good teamwork, great goalie
2 - New Ulm - great players, but work ethic issues - never know what to expect - some lazy players with good talent
3 - Litchfield - plays well as a team; decent goalie
4 - Redwood - plays hard, easy schedule, but finds a way to win; no real hockey sense though; sort of sloppy; only a couple good players
5 - Marshall - good; inconsistent players on the ice - never know what is going to show up or who is on what line - can't score - seem to have team leadership issues - what's up with the goalie & player rotation?
6 - who cares - the rest are no good - typical southwest MN hockey - no cycling, no position play, they try - I will give them that - great effort, but no good coaches down there.
Hutch and New Ulm all the way - no one else can beat them.

All I got is a score from last night
Holy Angels 9
Hutch 0
as for Marshall/Redwood: here what both teams need to do
Redwood: keep on keepin on... just take care of business and have the chips fall where may.. just play hockey.. simple
Marshall: Figure it out eh! Just quit whining every time you lose to Luverne and Morris. Just strap on the skates, light the lamp, tell your goalies to be goalies and not sieves, and turn your opponent goalies into sieves... In other words... just play hockey!
That's all I'll say about this until Tuesday, when the game is played.
BTW: Go Vikes... (sorry, had to slip that in

I don't think marshalls problem is their goalies. for the most part they keep the team in it when they are playing bad but it doesn't help if their offense can't score. Defense is ussually alright but when they screw up it ussually ends up as a goal.M-TownSiv wrote:All I got is a score from last night

Marshall goalie is good when he plays...
From what I have seen, they have two great defense man (13,14), and the rest are just average/good.
Not sure the d and goalie can stop Hutchinson and New Ulm. The D did it in the New Ulm game, along with the play of the goalie. They don't have much for scoring power.
Too many other good forwards in the section that can light it up - can't win if you can't score. Hutch and New Ulm have the "go to" guys to take it to anyone. Section title should be a good one. NU big guy up front is going to take it to them all.

i agree whit hoc card ger.... yep.......
Just check mnhockeyhub.com... stats dont lie. that will tell you the best players in the section..... Kids with stats are the kids that are getting it done. But just cuz u dont have stats doesnt mean your not a good player either... everyone has a role.
marshall has good defenseman but just cant score lately.... They were dangerous at the beginning of the season and into the holiday tournament but have been inconsistent lately... dont overlook them now.. we will get our stuff together and get dangerous...... dangerous.

A wins a win. Doesn't matter who you play. Good to see Litch with a nice win. NU game was postponed due to weather. But New Ulms scoring is coming around. Juntanen is coming around. They have two guys in Fischer and Peterson that are up there. Their goaltending is very solid.
Vanderziel isint a stud but he's good. I think he played elite II's?
Brian Willet is nothing special.
At this point I think I take New Ulm. Have depth and have been scoring some goals as of late. I still like Hutch though
Sregit Marshalls junk face it. I'm sure your one of the players there and your probably a third liner that thinks he's good or talks like he is. Unfortunatly i'm a fan and I don't know who your are but I'd like someone to clean your clock.

Let's get back to who the best players in the section are:
Hutch has the best goalie - great percentage in a tough conference which includes Holy Angels. With the schedule they play, he is doing great.
Other great players:
NU - peterson, traulich, fisher, juntunen (when he wants to be), Burgau
RW - Miller, Hanson, Welch
M/B - Hansen, Picht (seems they carry the team)
Marshal - Vanderziel, Antony, Campion
Hutch - Hantge, Meier, Swenson
Windom - Eisenmenger
I think the best team players are in New Ulm and Hutch. They have the best chances out of this section to do anything. Redwood will probably beat Marshall - Marshall has better players, but they can't put it together. Redwood can't beat the other good teams in the section though.

i agree with hoccardger the best players in in New Ulm and Hutch, all the other teams are simply benders. NU Hutch is where its at, whose the best player out of these teams? and whose better Burgau or Swenson? and Derek uhmm did the team out of this section that went to state last year go 2 games and out because if i remember right they were playing in the last day of hockey on the year, meaning they beat someone in the state tourney... hmmm...

Hey Derek, I & probably most people from this section don't care what you think! If you don't know anything about the teams in this area, don't post. The MSHSL has it right with having a representative from this area of the state along with represantatives from all areas of the state. Oh sure the state tournament would possibly more entertaining to watch if a group of people were to sit down and pick the top teams to go to state, but I bet there would be some lopsided games with that format too, no system is perfect so deal with it and pay attention to your own section.Derek Sutton 09 wrote:I don't think any of these teams are good at all. Don't forget about Grina and Hahn, from Hutch.
I've seen most these teams play this year. I like New Ulm, Litch, and Hutch. Any one of these three have a legit shot at the title. Most likely the favorite would be Hutch. They play a tuffer schedule then New Ulm. New Ulm has improved their schedule from last year which will help. Litch also plays some tuff conference teams. As always, it will come down to good goal tending, and a few lucky breaks.
It's unlikely any of these teams will win a game at state.

RV 7-3 over Marshall! sregit34, what happened? Your best goalie was in net and yet yielded 6 goals. Pucks not bouncing your way again?
Good Job Cardinals! Right now I still believe that NU is my #1 choice, but Hutch at #2 will give them a tough game in the finals, definitely not a game I will miss. #3 is now Redwood with Litch in 4th. Marshall is a questionable 5th the way they have been playing lately, with Windom as a very dangerous 6th when their scorers get their scoring touch back. The final weeks of the season will be interesting to see which teams come together and which teams fall apart.

When you almost have as many 10 minute penalties (2), as goals (3), in a big game like this... not good. Nice job by Redwood for taking care of business at home, and now a top 4 seed in sections is looking very good.
For Marshall, they need to start playing discipline hockey and not call it a season. They still have 7 games (4 section games) to right the ship for sections. They still have NU and Hutch at home and both Sleepy Eye games
At this point, a Marshall/Redwood III in sections is a very real possibility and would be fun to watch
I think Marshall is pretty much stuck at where they are at in sections (#5). I can't see them moving up due to being 1-3 against the top team in the section (2 more games coming), but I can't see them going down due to them sweeping Windom and I think their schedule still has about 3-5 wins left "on paper."
If I had to call the seedings as of 1/27/2010 I would think
1) New Ulm
2) Hutch
3) Litch
4) Redwood
5) Marshall
6) Windom
7) Luverne
8. Fairmont
9) Sleepy Eye
10) Worthington
I'll try and do this every Wednesday, and maybe a couple of other days where there are big section dates/weekends
BTW: Is it top 4 that get byes?
