D10 - Redistricting vote on 23rd!!!

Post by MNHawker »

Anyone have any insight to what MN Hockey is voting on regarding Redistricting District 10 associations?

What associations might be leaving D10 or Coming to D10?

1. Anoka
2. Andover
3. Becker\Big Lake
4. Blaine
5. Cambridge-Isanti-NB
6. Centennial
7. Champlin Park
8. Chisago Lakes
9. CINB
10. Coon rapids
11. Elk River
12. Mora
13. Pine city
14. Princeton
15. Rogers
16. Sauk Rapids
17. Spring Lake Park
18. St. Cloud
19. St. Francis

What is going to happen to District 1 and their associations?

Here is what I have seen on the table for discussion......

Reconfigure a Central District 5 – Up for action at MN Hockey Winter Meeting January 23-25

Buffalo

St Michael/Albertville

Sartell

Monticello

River Lakes

Hutchinson

Litchfield

Willmar

Becker - From District 10

Sauk Rapids – from District 10

St Cloud – from District 10

Little Falls – from District 15

Other related moves

Mound Westonka from District 5 to District 3

Crow River from District 5 to District 3

Hasn't Irondale petitioned or requested to join D10 from where ever they currently are?

I swear I read that in the minutes for the district last month.

IMO they should allow it since they pretty much are so centrally located with SR1 it would make it really easy for scheduling and games...at least for me and the majority of the other local D10 associations?

SR1??

Post by hockscout88 »

I'm assuming PWD10 is from Coon Rapids if SR1 is referring to the Super Rink ??

Sorry not Coon Rapids. I always seem to think SR1 is to the right when you enter that building and not the left. It actually is the first rink to the right as you enter that facility that Irondale uses and has their banners hanging from.

SR1 is the Coon Rapids on the left as you are going up the stairs to the upper lobby and on the right is Ramsey or SR4.

Irondale has requested to go to D10
Highland Central has requested to go to D2
Minneapolis (SW/WAHA) has requested to go to D3 (as our co-op partner is in D3 also)

Other "non-D10" requests:

-Apple Valley to D8 from D6
-Eastview to D8 from D6
-Richfield to D6 from D1 (merge with Kennedy)

Not sure on the Richfield merge. There seems to be some confusion among the ranks. Some attend Kennedy and want to go that way, others attend Richfield or private and would rather play with Minneapolis in District 3. We have 10-15 playing in our program this year and they contribute to our program and are welcome back in the future.

This is one that MN Hockey shouldn't decide, but should probably let the folks in Richfield determine their fate.

One of our coordinators got a text that stated the vote was 20-0 for the move.

Can't confirm that yet...

Not sure if they adopt D-10 B1, B2 I kinda would hope so...
Here is the proposal that was voted unanimously....

The Reconfigured D5 Teams:

Buffalo

St. Michael/Albertville

Sartell

Monticelllo

River Lakes

Hutchinson

Litchfield

Willmar

Becker

Sauk Rapids

St. Cloud

All in all, I have no complaints. I understand there are some differences in the amounts of time per game? Apparently D-5 has operated more than an hour of game time for U-12 and Pee Wees? D-10 has operated 1 hour total for all levels below Bantam and U-14 I believe.

It will be an interesting first season for sure...

I was under the impression that Little Falls would also move to D5. Have not seen the minutes of the meeting yet will probably be posted on the Mn Hockey site later.

Little Falls, District 15 and the north Directors did not want Little Falls to move.
So a vote was taken to leave them as is and it passed.

Johnson and Como will either be moved to D2 or D8.
This will be decided by April.

13 District in 4 Regions? That sounds like a recipe for some noses getting bent out of shape.
