TCF or Target Field to host outdoor games next year?

Post by clutterbuck22 »

I read online that if the Wild don't get the Winter Classic next year, some high schools and the Gophers will play outside next year as a practice run for the year after's Winter Classic. What do you guys think about this and do you know what high school teams would play in it?

Sounds like it would be a blast! The high school teams that do get the chance to skate there will have a game of a lifetime.

I would say the BANK. Seating would be easier on both sides of the field.
I also am a season ticket holder for the TWINS and i do not ant the field ruined. But on the other hand, as a season ticket holder I may get a crack at tickets at Target field.

Take it to the bank.

Did you the the set-up at Fenway. The rink was 50 yards from the fans.

I don't think its possible they would make an outdoor rink for the gophers and high school teams. It would cost way too much money.

Do you mean too much money to have it at TCF of Target Field??? Possibly...but you know that they had all kinds of outdoor hockey last weekend. Personally it is an interesting idea but, I don't know how much fun it is for the fans. the seating never looks that great when they are played in a football or baseball stadium.

playing it at TCF or Target field would require refrigeration systems as they are not water. I think I read this year that the NHL has one such system, maybe 2. I cant imagine they are cheap. Especially for something that would never bring in enough money without a pro team. Without the NHL funding it and providing the system this wouldnt happen at TCF or target.

There are plenty of portable rinks out there. I am sure that someone in Minnesota can find one. I would bet that someone would donate the use of the system if needed.

my guess is that the U or the Twins would want the best one out there. They don't want their field ruined. Remember, The twins need that field to be perfect in March.

Lets just make TCF stadium a permanent outdoor rink until the Gophers football team can win some quality games. Until then they can play in the parking lot. :D

TCF is field turf as well so there would be way less damage there than there would be at Target. Plus it would be better viewing for hockey, plus there are more seats. The bank for sure.

TCF would be a much better venue but the parking and escaping the campus is horrible but in case you did not hear: they just gave Brewster a 2 year extension

Yes the Brewster extension makes no sense at all. I was kinda expecting them to land a high-profile coach like they did with Tubby, but I guess not.

Oh I heard. Just more agonizing years with Brewster (and Maturi).
