This was a clean hit. The Armstrong player never raised his elbow/arm. He kept it close to his body.

This hit could have been avoided had the Mtka player skated with his head up.

Armstrong did not take any frustration penalties in their losses to Mtka & Wayzata (8-1 & 11-1). Those boys took their medicine like men.

Brained isn't a northern team. They are more in that no mans land where mediocre players have the ability to score 200 pts in a career. There is no defined boundary but just the fact that they are not in with the good programs in the NW, iron range, or duluth and they are not near the cities.
I see Brainerd has played one 'decent' team this year in Moorhead and lost 6-0. The fact is many Brainerd players wouldn't have taken this hit if they played for tonka because they would be on the Jr Gold team.
I hope you bring your up der nort' style hockey to the xcel and it works because it doesn't look like your skill levels are matching up against sections 2-6.

Before u do I'd like to note I wasn't directly talking about brainerd, the style of play up north is a heck of alot more physical than the southern play. Back to the other part, brainerd is considered north in highschool hockey there pal compare how many teams there below St. Cloud to the amount above it for one. For two they are in a northern section. Third outside of talking about hockey there still above the middle of the state... I'm guessing u've never seen the brainerd goonsquad play. but this hit compares to nothing u'd see at a game up north
No I'm not from Brainerd. I am from a Brainerd rival. Sorry pal, we are not "north"... we are also not "south" or "metro". Actually we get a good mix of both. Up north they do play a heckuvalot rougher than we do. Down south or metro, they play a lot more like squirts. In Central Minnesota, we play a game that is more physical than southern or metro teams, and slightly less...say..dirty than they play up north. From my experience, the difference in what we do and what they do up north is not much different if you take away the late hits, blocking, and the general slow down game they usually play up north. I say usually because up north they have some very skilled players and very skilled teams....as skilled as they may be they still cannot get away from what they grew up with.
After all of that I will counterdick myself: To the Twin Cities people, Brainerd is up north. They all go "up" to their lake cabin right??? and they can' t just go "up" there, if ask where...it is "up north" right??? because it sounds better.....

I thought the contact was made mostly with the back of his upper arm, not an elbow. But I'll grant you it was close.

AN Elbow is when the player leads with his elbow, as in sticking it out and that is the first contact point. some players get called if they follow through or push off with the elbow after the initial hit. As the ref is reacting to the contact. This hit is a clean hit.

The second one on here I would say breaks a players code. For tall players nothing is worse then a guy going low on you.

International Falls is as "north" as you can get! More big hits thrown the further north you go!

Anything south of I Falls is too far south for me.

Beautiful hit. I can't believe anyone would think that's dirty IMO.

It's off-topic, but I just want one quick answer: Is Armstrong playing in the NWSC or the North Suburban next year? Thanks

Those boys took their medicine like men.
at :29 seconds in the video, you can see the elbow of 16 in his face...and what number 3s head did after the "clean hit" wasn't quite natural to what should have happened in a standard body check. It looks like Armstrong is taking their medicine...

I'd say it's more like #3's head is in #16's arm/elbow. #3 skated into #16 with his head down. #16 did nothing wrong.

I guess we'll disagree on this one. The good news is #3 is OK.

So some of you can brush up on your elbowing. Take into consideration the player getting hit is also bent over, reaching and has his head down.

Minnetonka fan who's bitter? It was about as clean as you find for a big hit. And yes the score was ugly, that was pointed out at the start of the thread...

Try pausing at :18 his elbow is down and the tonka player is clearly already going down to the ice.. I guess this is something we're not going to agree on
