Private School Have their Own State Tourney's

Post by mnhockeynemn »

I would brought this up in a few of my posts and what to know other peoples opinions on private schools having their own section or even their own state tourament. I know myself, and most hockey fans that I talk to agree that they should not co-exist with public schools.

I hate private schools as much as the next guy but that's kinda the fun of it. As horrible as this sounds i love when publics beat the privates and to be honest it's best during the state tournament. What would state be with out Hill, CDH, Duluth Marshall, STA etc? I DO feel however that they should all play in one section to go to state, however this is very unrealistic because of all the private schools in the state.

I think its good for MN hockey, it gives everybody someone to root against. Its like the Yankees of MLB, everybody loves to hate them...Its good for sports to have a bad guy, or more. I like the idea of putting them in their own Conference but seperate them in sections. I enjoy the teams they put on the ice, very talented and fun to watch. Some of them I like others not so much but always fun watch and of course it stirs up the State Tournament as well with the opposing views out there. Just one guys opinion.

When all the pointless arguing is said and done, private schools put a regular hockey team on the ice same as anyone. They win, they lose, and the disparity in talent is not so great that private schools require their own section or tournament. If it aint broke, DONT fix it.

As much as I'd like not to play Hill in the sections every year :D I'd have to say no to it. Its not like private schools win every year anyway.

yawn.

this will be locked within 12 hours.

edit: The idea is pretty stupid. If your team can't compete them right now, use it as motivation to get better.

if privates were in their own section - where would Jefferson go? Since they have top line players that open enrolled.

Lets have a different tournament for public schools who play with kids not from their boundaries that have open enrolled.

Since when did private schools start dominating the state tournament? Some people make it sound like the field of 8 traditionally consists of mostly private schools and a couple of public. When did this happen? The Tourney is always filled with mostly public and a private school or two. In some years, there are no private schools at all. You don't hear private schools whining. They just lace em up the next year and give it shot.
