Confirmed...Wayzata goes down in flames to Fort Williams 2-1. Canadian hockey is so ugly. I bet they iced the puck 70 times. Oh well. Centennial at 1 PM.

there a competitive team. much better than what I saw in Dec at the spirit of duluth tourney.

Unofficial Pool C standings:

Wayzata 1-1-0 20 pts
Tonka 1-0-1 19 pts
Ft Williams 1-0-1 18 pts
Centennial 0-2-0 2 pts

Pool C is up for grabs. Any of top 3 can win based on gm 3 results. The wildcard will not come from this pool.

duluth recap

Post by blueblood »

A very competitive tournament for many teams.

Duluth and Lakeville post 3-0 records in pool play to win Pools A and B.

Tonka wins Pool C with a record of 1-0-2.

Burnsville wins a 6-way tie for the wildcard berth over Wayzata, Ft Williams, Ft. Francis, Elk River and the Bearcats from Thunder Bay. They all posted 1-1-1 records.

In the semifinals, Duluth and Lakeville enterd the 3rd tied at 2-2. Lakeville scored an early goal to take the lead, but Duluth raliied for 4 goals to defeat Lakeville 6-3 to earn a shot at repeating for the 'ship.

In the other semifinal, Tonka and Burnsville entered the 3rd tied up at 1-1. Tonka scored 2 sniper goals to advance to their 2nd championship game of the season.

In the finals, Tonka jumped out to a 3-0 lead after 2. Duluth rallied to close the gap to 3-2 with 2:15 remaining. Tonka got a late empty netter to win 4-2 and claim their second title of the year.

bluebloods all-tournament team (players he saw play):

Centennial #3
Wayzata #13 and #15
Ft Williams #18 and #31
Burnsville #7
Duluth #2
Tonka #1 and #9

Good job Butch and Ginny Orrey and all Duluth volunteers!

Guru you stepped up big time for your team in the tournament. Hopefully you will be the guy that provides the consistent scoring that the team was lacking. Keep up the hard work....
