Obviously, if Woodbury or WBL wins out, they will win SEC... a tie or a loss by either, could open up a spot for Forest Lake to even move up to #2 with games vs East Ridge and Hastings.

A CDH win over WBL could potentially knock WBL to 4th.

More than likely it won't happen, but, it would be great to see Forest Lake win the title.

I agree.... it's a fun story...... Kohl's will be giving Wahlin from WBL a great run to Player of the Year Honors...... Gaffy/Skoog have been solid replacing Paul Moberg in goal, because I don't think anyone really knew what FLake was getting... FLAKE also finishes with MV, so 6 more points is legit.

I think some form of scenario where WBL beats Woodbury, but loses to CDH could sneak FLake there??????

As we have noted on some other threads, I am under the impression that depending on where you finish in the standings dictates how many all-conference selections a team gets.

As Body Shots and I have noted, last year, of the 8 SEC teams, 5 all-conference selections were goalies and only three defensemen!!!! How does that figure.

Because of the WBL suspensions and missing 4 SEC games, it seems hard to reward any of the players unders suspension. That is hard for me to state, considering Max Birkinbine also missed the first two games of the year, (5 SEC games in all), he had been pretty gosh darn good in the rest of the conference games, as has been defenseman Loesch. Brandon Wahlin leads all SEC scorers with 40 points and Birkinbine is still 6th with 31, despite missing 6 games. Wahlin is my favorite to win SEC player of year. And Wolter from WBL will most likely.... maybe Jared Schletty in nets, but with WBL finishing top 4, they may be awarded 4 or 5 players.

It isn't like the old days where there was a first-team, second team and honorable mention, where two goalies, four defenseman and 6 forwards comprised the first and second teams.

These are some players that will get strong consideration.

Jesse Perron, Bob Kinne, Tony Barbato and Joe Schneider from CDH.

Lucas Kohls, CJ Franklin, Danny Fick , Christian Gaffy and maybe Ryan Seuss and Trevor Waldoch from FLake

Max Gaede, Walker Hyland, Michael Ness, maybe Colin Keefe, Conner Delaney from Woodbury..

Wilson Housley, Ben Wiegand, Kyle Mogren maybe Brandon Schumann
and Alex Chuhel from Stillwater

Jeff Anderson, Alex LaValle maybe Phil Boje from MV

Austin Nelson and Nate Flynn from Hastings

Brandyn Graff and maybe Nate Yuso from Park

Maybe Tom DeBace and Jake McCann from Roseville..

East Ridge??? Who knows with 0 wins in SEC.

PLAYER OF YEAR? 1) Wahlin 2) Kohls 3) Housley 4) Gaede

Defenseman of the Year 1) Mogren

Goalie of Year: 1) Gaffy 2) Ness

But if you look at my prediction history, 1-82, why trust my input??

East Ridge will more than likely have one player on the all-conference team. Usually, no matter how bad a team is, one player makes the list.

For all conference from ER my money is on either the goalie Andrew McDonough or D Jack Leiviska.

Alt very well may... I forgot about him... I am not sure how long he was out with his injury in SEC play. He definitely is a defensive defenseman. It says Alt has played in 18 games - I don't think that is accurate... From what I remember, his first game back was Jan 9 against WBL..... he has 3 goals and 6 assists. He may very well get be a legit candidate with Mogren for Defenseman of the Year, considering he committed to the Gophs and his reputation.

P.S. I am just used to the Kinne, Perron, Barbato line doing 90% of the scoring for CDH....

I'll take Fick as Defensemen of the year in the SEC. And don't forget about Hyland for Woodbury.

I'll go with Tim Wegleitner. He's been the Raptors' best playmaker this season.

No chance McDonough gets it.

GFD,
Alt came back against Hastings the game before WBL., so he has played 12 games. He has been solid lately as I'm sure you'll see on Thursday. Another tidbit of info for you; Kinne, Barbado and Perron are not together anymore. The balance has helped Cretin as you can see they are back to scoring more again. Good luck Thursday. I'll be there to check it out!

Good to know..... then Alt should get an all-conference nod for sure..... I haven't seen him play this year, but, it's pretty safe to say that I am sure he enjoys dishing out the punishment to pay back the pounding he gets as QB. I also suspected there was a line change. I wasn't sure, since I hadn't seen individual game summaries. I think I remember it being mentioned in a thread a couple weeks ago.

Body, I also like your choice of Fick for D-man of the year.... I like that better, considering how the overall goaltending has been for FLake .. and same with Hyland.... yeah.. I would move those two ahead of Mogren... good choices...and maybe Alt gets mixed in this year. Thanks for that input... You intimidated me into changing my mind.. you want my lunch money, too?? And OH!!!! Looks like better competition for D-Man of the Year considering WBL's Brent Putney was a solid choice last year, eh?? I know Loesch has been racking up points for WBL, but?????

And upon further review, I would probably drop Gaede out of top four, and insert one of the other CDH studs, but will their equal play divide votes??

I am going to add that Wahlin had to sacrifice some play for WBL during the suspensions, because he moved back to defense a couple of the games, and had to change his role for the betterment of the team.

Though the odds aren't too good, Forest Lake could still win the title.

Woodbury could clinch a tie for the title with a win over White Bear Saturday at Bielenberg. If the Royals do win it all, it will be their third straight conference championship.

Well... with Mark Alt getting nominated for Mr. Hockey then it should be a given that he will win Defenseman of the Year, eh??? :-k

Wbmd..... although a couple blips on the SEC schedule, Woodbury should have walked away with the title, but how can anyone argue with only 2 losses? Short of being undefeated, it's been a solid season for the Royals. I bet they wish they could have that Park game back, eh? That would be something if that loss comes back to haunt them.

How can you vote against Holl for D of the year? He has my vote!

No.. we are talking about the SEC defenseman of the year. I didn't even initially have Alt on my all-conference team, because statistically, his offensive numbers don't stand out like some of the other SEC D-men, but if Alt is a finalist for Mr. Hockey, then, he probably would be voted SEC D-man of the year.

My bad, you're probably right, he should get it now.
