Brainerd is down 2-0 and 16-2 for shots on goal.
Brainered starting out slow.
Blue train is coming to life though.

update

Brainerd played a much better period, they got a goal from Josh Archibald. So at the end of 2 it is 2 - 1 hockey game.
Shots on goal for that period were 10 - 8 for Moorhead, so 23-10 total for the game.

Hopefully for Brainerd can finish strong in this one.

Correction on 2nd period shots: 10-7 for Warriors

Bitzer stops Archibald's penalty shot.

About 5 minutes left.

You're right, oldtimer! There was nothing SPUDNUT and I could (or needed to) do about it, but you forgot there was plenty the Spuds could and did do about it!

Here we go again - a poor excuse is just a little better than no excuse !

Got a hunch these two will probably get another shot at each other in Sections.

How do you figure not? They should get the #2 seed and are the favorite to make it to the finals. With Roseau's recent loss, the Warriors may not even need to beat them in sections.

No wonder why your Brainerd boys stunk it up.....it was the refs? Perhaps when you moved the crapper into the house you should have flushed it! Section final game is in St. Cloud? Big Ice....more room to move around I give the spuds the advantage.....if both teams make it out of the section semi final games. Advantage is they play at home.
Too many penalties on both sides but for Brainerd to win they need to stay out of the box....
Thats Mr. Potatohead to you!

The officiating was what it was, I won't say bad but definitely inconsistent....suffice to say! Or, maybe that is what poor officiating is. Moorhead outplayed the Warriors - yet the Warriors had every opportunity to win. A missed penalty shot.....a bad bounce....terribly out shot in the first period....and farrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr to many trips to the penalty box. The boys in blue still have some work to do. But I do believe that their coach will ensure that they learn from their mistakes. Might be inappropriate to say - but the loss should help them understand what they need to do as the post season approaches.

I totally agree. I don't think a loss was a bad thing. Brainerd would have had to win convincingly again a solid Moorhead team to get the #1 seed. This game may be a little wake up call on what they need to work on to make a great run at sections. I would start with staying out of the box! I know they will be ready come section time and I hope to see the boys in Blue on March 3rd for the championship! GO WARRIORS!

I don't know what to think with section 8AA now. Which only makes sense in that I haven't traveled up to see the usual favorites or MN hs hockeys version of the broad street bullies (Brainerd). I think it's a 3 horse race and not much difference in the 3. Brainerd has to feel good about their last week of play with a few moral victories in keeping the moorhead game out of running time this time around along with some impressive wins against little falls and sauk river. The little falls game looked like an offensive shootout and the SR game seemed to be more of a defensive battle and a 2-1 outcome. Great teams can win in many different ways.
I heard archibald was a little stewed after the moorhead game about his team taking penalites and it showed in this interview he did after the game. He referred to the spuds as the bears though?
