I wonder if the Ponies were a bit tired from their game against Cloquet on Friday night.

I have heard that they are going to allow open enrollment with in the district next year. obviously, I think this will get interesting as far as Eastridge sports are concerned. I think you may end up seeing an exodus of some players going back to where they played prior to being forced to go to Eastridge due to the bounderies being set last year. some of the Park kids I am sure would have liked to be playing with the kids they grew up in the system with. That being said, how many others would like to be playing for Wes Bolin and the Royals as well? Eastridge has the oportunity to turn in to the Bloomington Kenedy of the east metro. What are your thoughts?
It will be a very limited transfer option.
After watching how our WBL JV throttled Woodbury, it was discussed by one of the Woodbury parents where the majority of Bantam kids fall in the East Ridge boundaries (not sure if accurate), and with only 2 JRs on Woodbury varsity, the future could be as early as next year for East Ridge.
If there is limited transfer, it will be interesting to see if kids do move, and if it's because the players prefer to play for Wes Bolin at Woodbury, versus Doug Long at Ridge.

My prediction
Ponies 8
ER 2
Not quite the blowout you predicted Ponies Dad!!! ER played really well tonight with McDonough standing on his head and the ER boys shutting down most of the Ponies scoring chances....

I have no problem getting this one wrong! I was proud of the ER boys, many I know very well. I'm sure the boys were feeling pretty good after tonight. They stood toe to toe with one of the better teams around.
Like YB said, no quit in them right to the end. Good game.

If any of these boys were leaving, they'd have to have the paperwork started as that enrollment period ended on 1/15/10. I don't know of any ER boys leaving for Woodbury.

I didn't hear of anyone either. However there is a rumor that one of woodbury's varsity juniors will be transferring to ER.

I'd never abandon my bears though!
Unlike someone else you know, sayyyyyyyy - me??????
I have always liked Coach Long, and wish him the best of luck, and for J.A.F. 's point that one player may be GOING to East Ridge is interesting. I was thinking after 0-17 in SEC and 3 wins on the season, and with all the grads of Woodbury, that kids would leave ER to go back to Woodbury.
wblhockeyfan8 wrote:If their aren't d1 prospects, there is a good chance they are transferring for other reasons.
I'll say it again, ER's school is UH-MAY-ZING.
While the actual school is huge and beautiful rumor is that a lot of the juniors who went to woodbury their sophomore year don't like how they are treated. Some say it's like a junior high. If any one is transferring who plays hockey it's cause they want to play for the best woodbury team, no offense to any one from park but most of the varsity team are woodbury boys.

I have also heard about the kids at ER feeling they're in junior high again. I've also heard from those within woodbury and a parent that a lot of girls are transferring to East Ridge next year to be back with their friends while some others who didn't like East Ridge's high-strung teachers are moving back to Woodbury HS. Take that for what you will, but the fact that the district is allowing open enrollment, however limited it may be, is a sign that they are having trouble in filling the schools for next fall.

That isn't what I've heard. The students like East Ridge.
ER despite their 2009-2010 is not that bad. They forecheck very hard. The kids play with an impressive amount of heart. I think ER will impress as soon as next year. Look for them to move up and win games next year.

Won't the transfer rules still apply? So if you move from ER to Woodbury (or the other way), won't you be ineligible for varsity and need to play a year of JV?
If so, why would anyone currently on one of the teams move?
What if you did not make a hockey team and wanted to transfer. If you wanted to play at the new school, does the transfer rule still apply even thought you haven't played on a HS team?
The transfer rule does apply however let's say that someone who goes to ER and wants to transfer to woodbury has parents who are separated and living in both boundaries then they can transfer with out sitting out. There are many ways around the transfer policy.
