Andover?
What do you think about their chances going into sections?

Yes, Andover's nonconference schedule is much weaker than Elk River's.slyer wrote:i've seen him play a few times and haven't been impressed at all, i think jaremko from elk river has done as much as decowski. i'm not to sure but i think elk river has had a much tougher schedule that andover
Decowski's a talented player, no doubt, but Andover is not an incredibly deep team, and they're going to need contributions from others to have a shot. Fortunately for them the section is very competitive. Not sure they can beat both DE and ER (assuming no upsets), though.

Agree
I agree with you slyer the Jaremko kid is a very nice hockey player. I prefer his game over the decowski kid. I know everyone has different opinions on players.jaremko from elk river

toews is god 19 you must be blind, as far as i can tell it looks like jaremko has 10 more goals than decowski and they play teams like eden prairie, edina, holy angels instead of cambridge/isanti,chisago lakes, denfeld you could add 10pts to jaremkos stats and minus 10 for decowski stats if andover played decent non conference teams, but they don't so stats get inflated. yes he is a mr. hockey finalist , but not from what i have seen, oh by the way i'm from elk river originally and my hind isn't chapped cause if YOU remember the elks cleaned up on the puppies this year, so nice try!!!! maybe you need to go watch the games instead of relying on stats.

Okay, both are nice players. Cal prob does a little more with less, but Jaremko burries it more...back on point Andover?..If Andover is going to do anything, they have got to seperate Portner and Decowski. Decowski can elevate any line so I would try for two balanced lines. Running them two together will end their season real fast. They will get past Frany (I'm guessing) and then be done if they stack one line. Formula for an outside chance..1st-Decowski-Bennet-Ekman/ 2nd-Portner-Mellem-Gandrud/3rd-Spence-Jokinen-Gausman/and one hot goalie. jmo

- andover can skate with any team but get tired in the 3rd period. Andover doesn't have enough centers to have three solid lines. 1st line Decowski Bennett Grandrud 2nd line Portner Ekman Soreson 3rd line Franks Mellum Osbeck > you will have to skate 3-4 defenseman and give the 2 powerplay line a chance

Portners stock value will go up..he would be going against the other teams 2nd line, at center. Andover can not put together two competitive lines with him and Decowski together. If they do, it will be ONE and DONE.RBKhockey77 wrote:Seperating Decowski and Portner would not get anything accomplished. Portners stock value is almost worthless if he isn't on a line with Decowski, at least from what I've seen, he makes the most out of chances that Decowski sets him up for.
Minn...I would be okay with your line up. I doubt the Co Head's are going to move Mellum down to thrid line. You might see Gandrud down to 3rd if they play Sorenson on 2nd. I beleive he use to play forward and they would still have 5 D. I also doubt they will put Ozbeck ahead of some of the 10th graders, but you never know.

Five ...The Andover coaching staff gets out coached all the time IMO one of the worst in the NWSC unable to make a good solid decision. Those 10th graders haven't made an impact at all this season. Tollete is a better player then those two.
RBK ..Portner can make the plays and does a good job he just isn't as smooth as Decowski

Slyer it seems you rely on stats: your quote from an earlier postslyer wrote:toews, again i think the difference in pts is the schedule andover plays, if you look elk river has the 7th toughest schedule in the state, while andover is 56th, that is the ONLY reason that decowski has the pt advantage flip the teams around and jaremko would be right there.
maybe you need to go watch the games instead of relying on stats.
stats are only part of the equation on what makes a good hockey player

slyer you brought a knife to a gun fight here. Jaremko is not close to decwoskis playmaking ability. From your argument i can only assume that didnt watch the elite league. The competition in the the elite league is the best competition you can have for high school hockey in minnesota. Decowski was 6th in the elite league in points. So how can you say his stats are inflated when he proved he can produce against the best?

Decowski is the single most impact player on any team in the NWSC including Bjugstad. He does more with less every night. We wouldnt even be talking about Andover if Decowski was gone. Jaremko is a nice player but he isnt the reason the Elks are in position to get to state...Franke.
