Let's start to give this a little rest. We're starting to talk about one player and his family. I'm sure they will make the best decision at the right time. This is not the forum to discuss personal family matters. We've done everything but print his name.

Sorry I was just making a statement in general about Transferring. It was not directed at anyone or reffering to anyones current situation.

No problem at all with your's, youngblood. I know some of the other bloggers might say more and it's a topic worth discussing. Just did not want it to become too personal between Woodbury and ER kids when an individual is concerned.

I have heard that they are going to allow open enrollment with in the district next year. obviously, I think this will get interesting as far as Eastridge sports are concerned. I think you may end up seeing an exodus of some players going back to where they played prior to being forced to go to Eastridge due to the bounderies being set last year. some of the Park kids I am sure would have liked to be playing with the kids they grew up in the system with. That being said, how many others would like to be playing for Wes Bolin and the Royals as well? Eastridge has the oportunity to turn in to the Bloomington Kenedy of the east metro. What are your thoughts? :?:
It will be a very limited transfer option.
After watching how our WBL JV throttled Woodbury, it was discussed by one of the Woodbury parents where the majority of Bantam kids fall in the East Ridge boundaries (not sure if accurate), and with only 2 JRs on Woodbury varsity, the future could be as early as next year for East Ridge.

If there is limited transfer, it will be interesting to see if kids do move, and if it's because the players prefer to play for Wes Bolin at Woodbury, versus Doug Long at Ridge.
This assumes that Bolin will be coaching at Woodbury next year.

Why wouldn't Bolin be coaching at Woodbury next year?!!

Aside from goalies, there will be no one left. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've heard that the JV team is getting killed nearly every game. Some say he'll coach college next year, but who knows really.

Goaltending is one of the strengths of their JV team. In fact from the youth level only one goalie went to ER (Mcdonough). ER does have a JV goalie from Hill who transfered at the beginning of the year. Woodbury's JV has three goalies, all of them skilled, Two juniors and a young sophomore who could have played Bantam A this year. As for the Bolin rumor that would be great if he coached college. Hard to seem him go, but great to see him succeed at the next level. I do remember after David Eddy and the 08 class graduated that the rumor was he was going to coach at Wayzata so who really knows.

The JV has won 60-70% of their games in conference.

If Bolin does stay expect a very different game plan out of the royals next year. They won't be the high offense team we have seen in the past but will rely more on defense and capitalizing when the opportunities come. From what i have seen from their JV team they have a few solid forwards. #23 has two older brothers, one who played under Bolin. He has seen sometime on varsity as well.

My son grew up playing with the Woodbury kids from both schools but we are in Stillwater now. To the Woodbury hockey parents, do you folks wish they would have kept one Woodbury team instead of splitting it up or do you feel that school spirit and recogition is more important?

Myself, I think down the line a few years, splitting up the hockey team was the right thing to do as it will give twice as many kids the chance to play varsity hockey. I think these next few years will be growing pains however, especially for the Royals.

I am all for the splitting of the schools but the way the boundaries are drawn are ridiculous. When they said they were building the new school they said it would even out athletics. Boy were they off. Next year ER will be head and shoulders above the rest athletics wise and not just in hockey either. If we turn away from sports the Woodbury Bulletin published some interesting numbers last spring. 4% of kids at ER are on the free and reduced lunch system. There are 10% at Woodbury on the same system. At Park there is, and this number i could be a little off on, 22% on free and reduced lunch. Those numbers seem a little off to me if the goal of South Washington County Schools is to create diversity. I suppose there really wasn't a way to cut it to make every aspect of the schools equal and i am sure they didn't mean to do this but it just seems that the athletes whose family can afford all the elite sports camps are headed to ER. Maybe I am just whiney cause my royals are in for a rough couple of years but on the other hand i think it is great that more kids get to experience the great tradition that is high school hockey in minnesota.
