I see the top 4 in section 7 will look something like this
1. Virgina
2. I Falls
3. Hibbing
4. Marshall

1. Virginia
2. I Falls
3. Marshall
4. Hibbing

If hibbing beats virginia tomorrow and looks good this will be a mess to figure out.

Like it or not, Marshall beat Hibbing head to head. Hibbing may be playing better right now, but it would be a shame if they were seeded ahead of Marshall in my opinion.

Wow is this an example of a section with haves and have nots. Top 4 is cut and dry. Virgina has the #1 locked up even is they lose to Hibbing. I could see Hibbing moving up to #2 if they beat Virgina. I would love to see Marshall fall to the #4 and see them match up with Central in the quarters. Could you imagine Central knocking off Marshall in their last season of existence? Not likely to happen, but it would be a great story.

With a win, why wouldnt Hibing move up to 2? They split with I Falls and Rapids. I Falls lost and tied Virginia and did the same with Rapids. A win and they should get #2.

Marshall also lost to proctor a team Hibbing pounded. Marshall also lost to Virginia 7-2. They are your four seed. Like it or not!

I think that only the 2 & 3 seed is in any kind of question at this point. Here is my take on the seeding:

1) Virginia - Would be a major shock if they weren't put here. Really tough to find an argument against it.

2) Hibbing - I could see a 3 seed coming out of the meeting though, but I think they deserve 2 since they just knocked off #1 and they were the only team to do so.

3) International Falls - Could get #2, they need to get Marshall on their schedule, had they played them and won, they probably would get #2 for sure.

4) Duluth Marshall - Lopsided loss to Virginia, a loss to Proctor, a close game with Duluth Central. Can't see them anywhere else. An early season win over Hibbing isn't enough to overcome their losses.

5) Duluth Central - best section record, hung tough with Marshall late in the year. Won their games with the weaker teams, didn't play the top 3.

6) Eveleth-Gilbert - could have been #5 if they hung on to their 4-2 lead against Duluth Central. They did beat the rest of the bunch below.

7) Greenway - Wins over the bottom teams, lost to Central & Eveleth. Did not play any of the top four.

8) Ely - a win over Two Harbors and a 2-1 record against Silver Bay.

9) Silver Bay - Only wins in section play were against Two Harbors, and one win in three games against Ely

10) Two Harbors - No wins in section play

That would set up this for playoff matchups:

Top Bracket
Play in game #1: Silver Bay @ Ely, winner to play @ Virginia in QF #1.

QF#2: Duluth Central @ Duluth Marshall

Bottom Bracket
Play in game #1: Two Harbors @ Greenway, winner to play @ Hibbing in QF #3.
QF#4: Eveleth @ International Falls

Marshall went to OT with H'Town. We'll see how Hibbing does.
Marshall lost to GR 0-1, Hibbing lost 2-6 and won 4-3.
Marshall beat Cloquet 9-5, Hibbing tied 3-3.
Marshall lost to Warroad 2-6, Hibbing lost 3-5.
Etc, etc, etc.

There are so many ways you can make each team look better than the other and this would be very difficult if they didn't have a head to head game...but they do. Marshall won.

That being said, this section still isn't easy to rank. I could come up with a rational for Marshall anywhere 2-4 and the other 3 anywhere from 1-4. Either way, sections will be good.
