Archibald upset about taking penalties? This is the former Sioux who broke and may still hold the most penalty minutes in a season/career/wcha player? Im sure he is just repeating something he heard in his youth when he was the player.BBB wrote:I don't know what to think with section 8AA now. Which only makes sense in that I haven't traveled up to see the usual favorites or MN hs hockeys version of the broad street bullies (Brainerd). I think it's a 3 horse race and not much difference in the 3. Brainerd has to feel good about their last week of play with a few moral victories in keeping the moorhead game out of running time this time around along with some impressive wins against little falls and sauk river. The little falls game looked like an offensive shootout and the SR game seemed to be more of a defensive battle and a 2-1 outcome. Great teams can win in many different ways.
I heard archibald was a little stewed after the moorhead game about his team taking penalites and it showed in this interview he did after the game. He referred to the spuds as the bears though?

The 8AA final will be in either St. Cloud, Thief River, or... Fargo!?!?Potatohead9 wrote:Section final game is in St. Cloud? Big Ice.....

The way I heard the story, Morinville thought TRF was too close to Roseau to be a fair neutral site for Mhd, so he offered Fargo's UP Center as a "more fair" option. Roseau and Bemidji said no way, and the southern teams didn't really care, so it was added to the rotation...
I'm sure Morinville thought Fargo would be a "more fair" advantage? The Mooorhead fans would have to travel minutes to the game. Good for Roseau and Bemidji for nixing that. I wonder if Tech were to play Moorhead for the championship, he would consider the Mac in Sartell as a neutral location ? I think not.no97 wrote:Potatohead9 wrote:Section final game is in St. Cloud? I "rotation" is a key word here.blueline1 wrote:I'm sure Morinville thought Fargo would be a "more fair" advantage? The Mooorhead fans would have to travel minutes to the game. I think you will find most Moorhead fans object to playing in Fargo's UP center.....
yes its a short drive, but its NOT Minnesota.
I can only think of a few games that should be or been played at the UP center. This would be regular scheduled home games where it would be an sell out at the Moorhead Sports center. And this game should be an hour later than schedule in case fans didnt get the notice of the move to allow them to make it across town. Games that come to mind were the Moorhead v. Warroad game back in 2005? With Oshie v. Lee. Its great playing in an rink that is at capacity but it sucks for those who cant get in. I also dont like watching in a rink at half capacity. Like St. Cloud when its Roseau v. Moorhead, that to me makes no sense to have both teams and fans to travel that far. TRF is the perfect place its a beautiful rink and if a coach doesnt like it to bad. Its a neutral site home of a 8A school. Centrally located between both schools. Just like it would be for any of the top section 8AA teams (Bem, Brain, MHD, Ros, Tech)
Thats my two cents!

Rumor is that the site is to be determined by a coin flip between TRF and Fargo. I have no problem with a coin flip as long as both sites are in Minnesota. As a Roseau fan my bias is not with the proximity with Moorhead but with the possibility of a Minnesota hockey game being played in another state. Should 7AA be played in Wisconsin? I would rather just give Moorhead a home game as the #1 seed than see one nickel of our tax dollars end up in another state.

I was under the impression the game would be at TRF again if the Spuds and Rams met yet again for the section title, which is the case now. Anyone know for sure?ACTUALFORMERPLAYER wrote:Rumor is that the site is to be determined by a coin flip between TRF and Fargo.
