Lourdes is inconsistent at times but when they are on, they seem to be a very tough team to beat. I think this one runs closer than many people think, West has been putting things together and is peaking just at the right time. Though a win would be nice, I think the Scarlets will be a little short on the mark.
Lourdes win 4-2, empty net

Re: Lourdes at Mankato West!
Troubles on the road???? They have lost on the road to Northfield(I will give you that as a bad loss), St. Cloud Cathedral, Mound-Westonka(maybe should have won, but great goalie), Breck by 1 and STA by 2.bobforhockey wrote:Telling game
West on the rise, Lourdes far better than earlier but troubles on the road. Should help tell if Lourdes is for real or if West could be the upset special in the Section.
Lourdes 4, West 3
Not sure I would call that troubles on the road. Not many A teams would win many of those road games in my opinion??
I say Lourdes wins this game 5-1

With a less than impressive 3-2 win over West, does Lourdes have to worry about losing the 1 seed to Faribault? I know head to head is heavily weighted, but Lourdes losses to Northfield, Red Wing, a tie with New Prague and a terrible loss to Holy Family gives Faribault a heck of an argument for the #1.
Albert Lea is fading at a bad time, West is greatly improved.
Lourdes may be the best team in 1A but are no longer clearly in front of a bunch of teams. Their 1-2-1 record against the Missota teams could be a cause of concern come playoff time and may hurt them in seedings as well. They're good enough defensivly to be in any game but are just enough offensively challenged that there aren't going to be any sure things with them either. Seeding Lourdes will be tough, I can see legitimate arguments for them being anywhere from 1 to 4, more 3's and 4's will put them behind the Missota teams. The Missota is better than the Big Nine and Lourdes key section wins come over Big Nine teams save 1 over New Prague.

Goldy, I understand what you're saying, but I don't think any coach can justify ranking Lourdes - or Faribault or New Prague for that matter, lower than 3. They are the only teams that are above .500 as of right now.goldy313 wrote:Albert Lea is fading at a bad time, West is greatly improved.

Those three have earned the top three seeds, regardless of what order they end up in. After that, the next five or six teams are all capable of pulling off a win or two in the section tourney. This is going to be one fun tournament to watch, and impossible to predict.
Hockeydad, you're right I'm probably overvaluing Red Wing to much. When I look at it deeper I don't really see how they could get a top 3 seed and may struggle to get a 5 seed over Albert Lea.
Then again look at what happened in 8AA, Brainerd ends the year 20-3 with a win over Roseau in their only meeting yet gets seeded 3rd behind Roseau due only to tradition one has to assume.

Don't read too much into it. NP played the night before shutting out 3A #1 seed Hutchinson. The third goal was an empty netter and the first goal a power play goal. The game was a gong show penalty fest on both sides. However, when the buzzer sounded, Shakopee had more points on the board. They played hard. Congratulations to them.

A loss to Shako is still not a good lossPleasedontpostagain wrote:Don't read too much into it. NP played the night before shutting out 3A #1 seed Hutchinson. Just the way it is sometimes in sections. The favorite has trouble seperating from the underdog. Shots aren't going in. It gets into the 3rd and the favorite tightens up when they realize they could actually get beat, while the underdog, with nothing to lose, stays loose and plays like they never thought they could.Edger wrote:Whoa!Black Ice wrote:West 9 LH/SP 1 Final

Seriously?
Never would have dreamed Waseca could stay with NF
