So we should rip on Roseau for going to AA because they "couldn't beat Warroad", but we shouldn't rip on Warroad for staying A? What does that say about Warroad's ability that Roseau thinks AA is easier competition?

Both should be AA, why is four years a big commitment? Because you won't go to the state tournament every year during that four years? Boo-hoo. Do you really think that Warroad will devolve into a mediocre hockey program suddenly and they'll be stuck at AA? Give me a break. Every program has ups and downs year over year, but in four years Warroad will still be a strong hockey community and it will still be a joke that they are competing in A.

If the purpose of a two class system is to help grow the game, because communities that normally cannot participate in a state tournament get a chance in class A; does that really include the Warroads of Minnesota?

P.S. from the strib this morning

Warroad (24-1-1), the top seed in Class 1A, went 11-1-1 against Class 2A teams this season.

Warroad allowed 14 goals this season, posting 16 shutouts -- including nine consecutive from Jan. 2-26.

yup, they need to stay in A to be competitive.

Looking at the Single A field I don't know if there is a team that can skate with Warroad this year. Seems like Brecks goalie has the ability to keep it close so if they get a couple of bounces maybe they have a shot. I think the Warriors could put up double digits on most of these teams and from what we have seen in scores this year they will be gunning for records.

It will be a black eye for the tourney, the two class system, and the section, if there is a 14 or 15 to 0 game at the X.

Warroad has the smallest enrollment size in the Class A state tournament. The reason that the two class system was created was to separate by enrollment size. Warroad does have a very good team this year. In fact some argue the best in the state, regardless of class. However people shouldn't complain about them getting all these trophies in single A when they have yet to win a single state title. Three trips to the state tournament EVER is hardly an argument for them taking the easy way out. Also, people say they want to see Warroad play harder teams. They play nearly half of there regular season games against AA teams. You still get to see it. Roseau opted to move up to AA and they still play basically the exact same schedule during regular season. They only change is in the playoffs. Therefore, until Warroad can get a couple state titles under there belt people should just back off and realize that Warroad still plays tough, credible teams. You just don't see this because no one cares till it comes to tournament time and all the class A teams are scared of the Warriors. Get over it.

Does 10-0 for Breck and 11-1 for Warroad come close enough? My question is how bad do the semi's look? Any chance it could be the same lopsided scores? Go packers...

Warroad would still have a nice team without all the outside talent they have brought in,would they be rolling threw everyone like they have this year probably not but still a very strong team, all the extra help just takes away the legitimacy of their program,as far as opting up and having to compete for 4 years their you warroad faithfull need not worry the youngest is a freshman i believe, they find the help.If Warroad would move which is never going to happen, what would roseau do then to avoid them.

Q: How do you beat Warroad?
A: Bring Roseville to the rink with you.

Or Edina since Edina is the only team that has beaten Warroad this year.

True. How do the Hornets feel about getting a rematch with Roseau? Is it a boost to try to get revenge, or does it allow for a little doubt?

Yes, I believe it was the 3rd game of the year or something when Warroad tied Minnetonka and lost to Edina. At the same time Warroad lost to Edina, Roseau beat the Hornets, and has since lost twice to Warroad. Warroad also beat the Skippers in a holiday tournament. It would be interesting to see these 4 teams all getting another shot at each other, but it just doesn't work that way.

And the Hornets won today against Roseau 4-2. I think its not necessarily about which team is more talented. All of the above mentioned teams have talent. Its about matchups. I thought Edina matched up well against Stillwater, HM and Warroad and not so well against Roseville, Roseau and Minnetonka.

Edina matched up with Roseau pretty well today....even with the lopsided penalties!

I think Roseau came out and were a little tight in the first period. Edina scored 3 goals on some nice tips. Edina outplayed Roseau for most of the first period getting 9 shots to Roseau's 7. The game changed in the last 2 periods. In the last 2 periods Edina had penalty problems but IMO Roseau outplayed Edina. Edina only had 6 shots on goal in the final 2 periods and Roseau had 17. Edina's penalties were a problem but at even strength Edina's offense was generally stymied by Roseau's defense in the final 2 periods.

Lack of depth hurt Roseau plus having your top D on the bench with a cast on hurts. I agree they came out nervous but played well once settled down just could not finish some great chances they created.

Well now at least we will see a "private school" final for class A. Come on Warroad run with the big dogs :!:

How nice!!! Whats the point? If you have spent any time behind the bench we have all been on both sides of the fence and some day some way Warroad will get theirs too :!:

Nobody ever said the coach was full of class in the first place so no need to apologize. What exactly was the situation, I didn't get a chance to see the third period.

I believe the score was 9-0 and approximately 4 minutes left Alex gets a couple of penalties so Warroad pulled their goalie . not quite sure what that was suppose to prove. did not think it was classy at all. :x

Just quit. Give it a break. This gets old after awhile. When you're good, you're good. And that's what Warroad is, or there wouldn't be all this hype. At least if you're talking about Warroad, you're giving the other teams/coaches a break. GO WARRIORS

If you can't take the heat don't read the message board. No one is making you go to your computer and hit the link that pops up the message board. You better log out now if you can't take any more.

These are the same girls that were charged with trespassing during Christmas in Roseau as they were stealing lawn decorations. Yes, they are juveniles so we won't say any names but they were Warroad Varsity girl hockey players. Nothing is sacred with them. During the summer they parade down the street on the fourth of July with their Coach and have signs that cut down the Roseau girls team.

So how can you say they are good. IF they win the Tourney they will have their piece of metal to bring home but no respect. No respect because these girls are not role models. Girls hockey needs players that inspire and want the younger girls to sign up and play with their friends. If numbers are down in their youth teams there is something wrong... With all the drama and controversy that just does not stop who wants to be part of that association? Last year they cried when they took second place, most players would be proud to have a second place trophy. Get the picture. \:D/

I will make sure to write to the women Olympic team that they are horrible role models for only taking silver medal or second place and crying on the ice......they don't deserve our respect.

If you want to post every bad thing a player from Warroad on the board to make your points, be prepared to have it go both ways......the town 2O miles away is not totally filled up with saints.
