Matt VanVoorhis (USNTDP (Edina)) commits to Denver

Defenseman Matt VanVoorhis has made a verbal commitment to play for the University of Denver. VanVoorhis (5'7", 155 lbs) is currently playing for the United States National Team Development Program - Under 17. Last year, he played for the Edina Hornets as a sophomore.

He's a HS junior - why move the thread?
Awfully small for a defenseman. Congratulations! Haven't heard of any other commitments yet on a talented Edina team. Guess this young man made a wise choice to go to MI to be discovered.[/list]

this is the state of the game gentlemen. hockey is turning into the speedy fun watching skilled game that it was intended to be. He like every other kid will mature and get stronger. put him with a bigger d man and let him go in the corners and muck it up. let this kid have good positioning and skate the puck and move it. especially in the wcha with bigger ice and the skill these top end teams have he is goin to do just fine...obviously hes doing something wrong he is on the national team.
