#3 New Prague vs. #2 Lourdes 2/27
What do you guys think about this game? Should be a great one in front of a packed Rec. Century plays right after. I'm saying Lourdes 3 to 2 in OT.

The better team won, that said the officiating was just awful. The disallowed New Prague goal was a joke, I was on the catwalk, it was clearly kicked in by a Lourdes player, everyone in that area was in agreement. We thought the conversation was about goalie interference or not , there was no question the puck was kicked in by a Lourdes player, why the ref would go to the goal judge to figure out if the puck was batted in or not is beyond me, the goal judge has no role in that decision. Either you call it a goal or not right away, you can't hem and haw about it for ten minutes and after a discussion with the goal judge decide goal or not. The penalties were about as inconsistant as can be as well, the refs didn't cost New Prauge the game by any means but sure made it tougher on them.
That said , even after that New Prague had a 5 on 3 for over a minute and didn't score. You don't score on that and only have 7 shots through 2 periods you probably don't deserve to win. Lourdes freshman line is very good, New Prague had no answer for them, Lourdes could be scarry good the next few years.
Lourdes needs to be better to beat Red Wing, I think they can be.

Lourdes carried play for the first 2 periods, but New Prague had all the momentum when that goal was disallowed over halfway through the 3rd. If the refs would have been there to make the right call that game would have been tied 2-2 and been up for grabs. Sure New Prague only had 7 shots, but that doesn't say a whole lot considering 1 was a goal, and another 1 should have been. New Prague didn't have alot of chances so that disallowed goal meant that much more.
Then prior to the 5 on 3 that New Prague had their coach signaled to the ref for a timeout to set up their PP, which we all saw from the stands but apparently the ref missed?
Shortly after that, lourdes is on a 5 on 3 with 6 guys on the ice for at least 15 seconds with New Prague's coach yelling/trying to indicate that they had too many men on the ice to the ref, and the lourdes coach yelling to his own players to try and get one of them off the ice. Meanwhile lourdes scores to go up 3-1. Where was the call there?
I understand that refs can't see every little thing and sometimes make mistakes, but on saturday I feel they missed one too many calls.
I'm not saying New Prague deserved to win that game, but they didn't deserve to have it taken from them by the refs like they did.

Sorry New Prague.
Sorry New Prague. There is no way the tiny town of New Prague, in Scott County should get to the State Tounamnent. Small town presents is reserved for the Iron Range teams. Yes, the Lapic kid can play, but lets see what happens at the college level.

Re: Sorry New Prague.
God forbid teams like New Prague building their program to State Tournament level. That would be just awful. Having teams like New Prague in the Tourney is what makes it great. What is your problem Lakeviewing? Get over yourself and get off the backs of all sections outside of your precious 2AA and 6AA.Lakeviewing wrote:Sorry New Prague. ya no kidding lakeviewing.. shows how much you really know.. why would you take away what these kids from the country who barely have enough kids to make a jv team worked for their whole lives.. just a bunch of farm boys who are all friends and love the game.. go back to the cities and let dadies money buy your way into the tournament..
Re: Sorry New Prague.
By God, Lakeviewing, you're right... There is no way a small town like New Prague should be there. the 1A tournament should go to a team of handpicked players representing the best of a city of 100,000 and playing at a small private school and with the section tournament on what amounts to home iceLakeviewing wrote:Sorry New Prague. There is conclusive evidence on the KTTC.com website that shows the puck being touched by at least one Lourdes player after the New Prague player hit it. What isn't conclusive is whether the NP player even hit it with his hand. It looks like the puck hit him in the torso and deflected towards the net.mnwild2010 wrote:I'm not saying New Prague deserved to win that game, but they didn't deserve to have it taken from them by the refs like they did.
Either way... I agree that Lourdes is a good team... I'm just saying that it would have been really fun to see what would have happened had the referees stayed out of it and let the kids settle it. 2-2 with 6 minutes left in the game could have created an extraordinary finish to an already exciting game.
I'm not even going to go there on the too many men missed call or the unsportsmanlike conduct given to NP because of the fans. How does this guy get asked to ref a section semi??
The sad part is that the referee in question's partner took that approach and did a great job, and now he's probably getting stereotyped because of the way the other guy called the game.
Don't sweat the small stuff.
It's all small stuff.
